1. A method comprising:

  • receiving, by a wireless device, at least one control message comprising;

    configuration parameters of a plurality of cells comprising a first cell group and a second cell group; and

    a parameter of a time alignment timer associated with the second cell group, wherein the time alignment timer starts or restarts based on one or more timing advance commands (TACs);

    generating a first updated timing advance value (TAV) by updating a first TAV of the second cell group based on at least one first TAC for the second cell group;

    restarting the time alignment timer;

    storing the first updated TAV;

    receiving a control command for a transmission of a random access preamble; and

    transmitting, by the wireless device, via random access resources of a cell of the second cell group, and based on the control command, the random access preamble, wherein transmission timing of the random access preamble is based on the stored first updated TAV.
