1. A computer-readable medium for use with a patient, having instructions that, when executed:

  • receive information corresponding to an impedance measured between two electrical contacts, carried by a signal delivery device, and intervening patient tissue adjacent to the electrical contacts;

    compare the information to a predetermined criterion;

    if the information meets the predetermined criterion, provide an indication that the patient'"'"'s dura has been penetrated; and

    if the information does not meet the predetermined criterion, cause a pulse generator to generate a neural modulation signal to be delivered to the patient via the signal delivery device.
