1. A system for monitoring a plurality of patients in a hospital system to detect in real time the development of a sepsis condition and for identifying the patients developing the sepsis condition, the system comprising:

  • a plurality of local patient safety monitors, each of the plurality of local patient safety monitors configured to receive physiological measurements from at least a pulse oximeter and a blood pressure monitor for one or more patients,a central patient safety monitor remote from the plurality of local patient safety monitors, the central patient safety monitor having a processor and memory storing instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the system to;

    receive at least the physiologic measurements from the plurality of local patient safety monitors and store the physiological measurements in an electronic medical record;

    receive, from the electronic medical record, a plurality of time series associated with laboratory datasets and physiological systems of a patient;

    generate, based on the plurality of time series, a plurality of perturbed time series components including time series rise events and time series fall events;

    generate a plurality of relational binaries by associating one of the generated perturbed time series components with at least another one of the generated perturbed time series components based on a physiological relationship between the components;

    transform each of the plurality of perturbed time series components and the plurality of relational binaries into a plurality of graphical objects, wherein each of the graphical objects is configured to indicate an event of the plurality of perturbed time series components or a relationship between at least two of the perturbed time series components, and wherein each time series rise event is transformed into a first colored element, each time series fall event is transformed into a second colored element, and each relational binary is transformed into a third colored element;

    generate, from the plurality of graphical objects, a motion picture, the motion picture including an aggregate multidimensional image of the plurality of graphical objects such that the arrangement of the graphical objects in the aggregate multidimensional image indicates severity and relational progression of a sepsis condition of the patient as a progressively enlarging image as the sepsis condition progresses which displays evolving relational patterns of failure of the physiological systems of the patient; and

    generate, on a display device, a graphical display comprising viewing regions corresponding to physiological systems of the patient, wherein the viewing regions comprise at least an inflammatory region, and wherein the viewing regions are configured such that the motion picture is viewable across the viewing regions with the plurality of graphical objects displayed within the viewing region corresponding to the physiological system associated with the perturbed time series component;

    send at least one of, a notification to a patient safety console, an order for testing, or an order for therapy to at least one of the central patient safety monitor or one of the plurality of local patient safety monitors,wherein the notification to the patient safety console turns on a display of the motion picture of the aggregate multidimensional image of the objects.
