1. A method for wireless communications, comprising:
- determining an overlap between an uplink transmission and a downlink transmission in a subframe; and
controlling communications with one or more half-duplex (HD) user equipments (UEs), in response to determining the overlap, such that only one of the uplink transmission or the downlink transmission is performed in the subframe with the one or more HD UEs, wherein the communications with the one or more HD UEs occur in a first frequency band that overlaps in time and frequency with a second frequency band used for full-duplex (FD) transmissions.

Abstract
Half-duplex (HD) operations enable low cost implementations of LTE terminals. Traditionally, HD operations may be linked to a particular frequency band which may not allow a mix of full-duplex (FD) and HD terminals in the same frequency band. Therefore, certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for enabling coexistence, in a given frequency band, of HD and FD terminals, by introducing frequency bands designated for HD operation and overlapping existing frequency bands designated for FD operation.
