1. A method for identifying or discriminating one or more persons having used a battery or an electronic device powered by the battery, the method comprising:

  • a) tracking, by battery control logic implemented in one or more hardware processors, multiple battery parameter values representing electrical characteristics of the battery under the control of the battery control logic, the battery control logic being in the electronic device or a component associated with the electronic device; and

    b) analyzing, by the battery control logic, the battery parameter values tracked in(a) to(i) identify a person having used the electronic device or the component comprising the battery, and/or(ii) discriminate between two or more putative persons having used the electronic device or the component comprising the battery;

    wherein identifying multiple battery parameter values comprises measuring a battery terminal voltage over time, and, from the battery terminal voltage, calculating one or more of the following parameters;

    charge pulse voltage, overpotential, voltage response shape due to a charge or discharge pulse, full relaxation time, partial relaxation time, and equilibrium voltage measurements.
