1. A method of monitoring analyte concentration, the method comprising:

  • receiving, by a processor from a memory, sparsely sampled analyte sensor data generated by a device worn on-body by a patient and comprising an in vivo analyte sensor, wherein the sparsely sampled analyte sensor data is representative of a sensed analyte in the patient over a period of time, wherein the sparsely sampled analyte sensor data includes a plurality of data points, wherein each respective data point of the plurality of data points corresponds to respective analyte sensor data at a respective time of the period of time;

    determining, using the processor, a composite estimate of an analyte level in the patient over the period of time based on a combination of an interpolated estimate of the analyte level over the period of time using the sparsely sampled analyte sensor data and an extrapolated estimate of the analyte level over the period of time using the sparsely sampled analyte sensor data; and

    displaying a representation of the composite estimate of the analyte level in the patient over the period of time on an output device.
