Shopping space route guidance systems, devices and methods
First Claim
1. A system for providing route guidance to a customer in a shopping facility space comprising:
- a wireless transceiver configured to communicate with a user interface device and a plurality of motorized transport units each configured to detachably couple to an undercarriage of a shopping cart having wheels configured to permit the shopping cart to move via the wheels on a floor of the shopping facility when the motorized transport unit is uncoupled therefrom;
a store map database storing location information for a plurality of items available for purchase in the shopping facility space and store department layout of the shopping facility space;
and a control circuit coupled to the wireless transceiver and the store map database and configured to;
receive a list of items for purchase from a user associated with the user interface device via the wireless transceiver;
retrieve location information associated with each item of the list of items for purchase from the store map database;
determine a route based on at least one user entered route preference and the location information associated with each item of the list of items for purchase;
instruct at least one of the plurality of motorized transport units detachably coupled to the undercarriage of the shopping cart to move the shopping cart to lead the user based on the route;
receive, via the motorized transport unit, a voice command to add an additional item to the list of items for purchase;
determine an updated route based on the additional item and remaining items on the shopping list; and
instruct the motorized transport unit detachably coupled to the undercarriage of the shopping cart to continue to lead the user based on the updated route.
