1. A method of presenting data from a sensor that is monitoring a subject and/or an environment in a vicinity of the subject, wherein the sensor is in communication with at least one processor, the method comprising:

  • obtaining a sensor metric from the sensor, wherein the sensor metric comprises an identifier of a type of measurement performed by the sensor and a value of the measurement; and

producing, via the at least one processor, a serial data stream comprising the sensor metric, dynamically updated integrity information about the sensor metric, and statistical information about the sensor metric, wherein the dynamically updated sensor metric integrity information is generated in real time by an algorithm executed by the at least one processor to measure a signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio of the sensor metric, transmitting the serial data stream to an electronic device via a communication protocol, wherein the serial data stream is configured such that a program operating on the electronic device can display the sensor metric with the dynamically updated sensor metric integrity information and the sensor metric statistical information via a display associated with the electronic device, wherein the communication protocol comprises a plurality of sensor events, andwherein a sensor event of the plurality of sensor events comprises the sensor metric and the dynamically updated integrity information about the sensor metric.
