Abstract

Systems and methods for automatically determining of garment sizing (e.g., fit) using a images including video images. The method may perform non-contact estimations of garment fit from visual (e.g., video) input by receiving an video of the subject'"'"'s head and face and profile and determining a scaling factor from the subject'"'"'s intraocular spacing and using this scaling factor when analyzing images of other body regions to determine garment sizing.

Claims

1. A method of providing a garment, the method comprising:

automatically determining garment sizing for a subject from a video of the subject'"'"'s body comprising;

determining the subject'"'"'s interocular distance from a frontal image of the subject in the video;

determining a scaling factor from the subject'"'"'s interocular distance;

determining a correction function based on a distance between a plane of the subject'"'"'s eyes and a plane of the subject'"'"'s trunk or limbs; and

using the scaling factor and the correction function to determine measurements for the subject'"'"'s trunk, limbs, or trunk and limbs from a plurality of images of the subject'"'"'s body extracted from the video; and

providing a garment configured to fit the subject'"'"'s measurements.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising automatically recognizing the subject'"'"'s eyes.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein determining the scaling factor comprises determining the distance between the centers of the subject'"'"'s pupils.

4. The method of claim 1, further comprising receiving one or more of:

a subject'"'"'s age, gender, and race.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein determining the scaling factor comprises using the subject'"'"'s interocular distance and one or more of the subject'"'"'s age, gender, and race.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the video comprises a continuous video scanning the subject'"'"'s body including frontal and sagittal regions.

7. The method of claim 1, further comprising providing an estimate of the subject'"'"'s measurements appropriate for garment sizing comprising providing a shoulder, arm, neck, upper torso, and lower torso measurement.

8. The method of claim 1, further comprising determining a location for one or more biosensors to be integrated into a garment using the subject'"'"'s measurements.

9. The method of claim 1, further comprising automatically transmitting the subject'"'"'s measurements to a machine configured to fabricate the garment.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein using the scaling factor and correction function comprises adding the correction function to the scaling factor to determine a number of distance units per pixel.

11. A method of providing a garment, the method comprising:

automatically determining garment sizing for a subject from a video of the subject'"'"'s body comprising;

receiving a video of the subject, wherein the video includes at least one frontal image of the subject including the subject'"'"'s eyes, frontal images of a portion of the subject'"'"'s body to be fitted on the subject'"'"'s trunk, limbs or trunk and limbs, and side images of the subject'"'"'s head and portion of the subject'"'"'s body to be fitted;

determining a scaling factor from the subject'"'"'s interocular distance;

determining a correction function based on a distance between a plane including the subject'"'"'s eyes and a plane of the subject'"'"'s trunk or limbs;

using the scaling factor and the correction function to scale the images of the subject'"'"'s body; and

determining measurements of the subject'"'"'s body from the scaled images; and

providing a garment configured to fit the subject'"'"'s measurements.

12. The method of claim 11, further comprising automatically recognizing the subject'"'"'s eyes.

13. The method of claim 11, wherein determining the scaling factor comprises determining the distance between the centers of the subject'"'"'s pupils.

14. The method of claim 11, further comprising receiving one or more of:

a subject'"'"'s age, gender, and race.

15. The method of claim 11, wherein determining the scaling factor comprises using the subject'"'"'s interocular distance and one or more of the subject'"'"'s age, gender, and race.

16. The method of claim 11, wherein the video comprises a continuous video scanning the subject'"'"'s body including frontal and sagittal regions.

17. The method of claim 11, further comprising providing an estimate of the subject'"'"'s measurements appropriate for garment sizing comprising providing a shoulder, arm, neck, upper torso, and lower torso measurement.

18. The method of claim 11, further comprising determining a location for one or more biosensors to be integrated into a garment using the subject'"'"'s measurements.

19. The method of claim 11, further comprising automatically transmitting the subject'"'"'s measurements to a machine configured to fabricate the garment.

20. The method of claim 11, wherein using the scaling factor and correction function comprises adding the correction function to the scaling factor to determine a number of distance units per pixel.
