1. A method of calibrating at least one sensor data point from a transcutaneous glucose sensor, the method comprising:

  • using a calibration code associated with the transcutaneous glucose sensor, wherein the calibration code is based at least in part on a priori information obtained by performing measurements of at least one sensor characteristic of the transcutaneous glucose sensor during or after manufacturing the transcutaneous glucose sensor but before implantation of the transcutaneous glucose sensor in a host at the initiation of a sensor session, wherein the measured at least one sensor characteristic is associated with a thickness of a membrane system disposed on the transcutaneous glucose sensor, wherein the membrane system comprises an enzyme, wherein the a priori information accounts for a sensor sensitivity characteristic determined or assigned to the transcutaneous glucose sensor;

    receiving the at least one sensor data point from the transcutaneous glucose sensor;

    receiving one or more real-time inputs that influence calibration of the transcutaneous glucose sensor;

    converting, in real-time, at least one sensor data point to an estimated glucose value, based at least in part on the calibration code and the real-time inputs.
