Abstract

A wireless sensor device capable of constant operation without replacement of batteries. The wireless sensor device is equipped with a rechargeable battery and the battery is recharged wirelessly. Radio waves received at an antenna circuit are converted into electrical energy and stored in the battery. A sensor circuit operates with the electrical energy stored in the battery, and acquires information. Then, a signal containing the information acquired is converted into radio waves at the antenna circuit, whereby the information can be read out wirelessly.

Claims

1. A sensor device comprising:

a substrate;

a circuit comprising a plurality of semiconductor elements over the substrate;

an antenna electrically connected to the circuit over the substrate;

a sensor provided over the substrate and electrically connected to the circuit; and

a secondary battery over the substrate and electrically connected to the circuit,

wherein the secondary battery comprises a solid electrolyte layer,

wherein the circuit includes a rectifier circuit, a demodulation circuit, a modulation circuit and a logic circuit, and

wherein the secondary battery is configured to store electrical energy obtained from radio waves received by the antenna.

2. The sensor device according to claim 1, wherein the secondary battery is a lithium-ion secondary battery.

3. The sensor device according to claim 1, wherein the sensor device is configured to be implanted in a living body.

4. The sensor device according to claim 1, wherein the substrate is a plastic substrate.

5. The sensor device according to claim 1,

wherein the substrate is a semiconductor substrate, and

wherein the plurality of semiconductor elements are formed using the semiconductor substrate.

6. The sensor device according to claim 1, wherein a thickness of the sensor device is less than or equal to 2 mm.

7. The sensor device according to claim 1, wherein the sensor is a pressure sensor, a photosensor, an odor sensor, or a sound sensor.

8. The sensor device according to claim 1, wherein the antenna is configured to transmit information obtained by the sensor wirelessly.

9. A sensor device comprising:

a first substrate;

a circuit comprising a plurality of semiconductor elements over the first substrate;

an insulating film over the plurality of semiconductor elements;

a secondary battery over the insulating film and electrically connected to the circuit;

an antenna electrically connected to the circuit; and

a sensor electrically connected to the circuit,

wherein the secondary battery comprises a solid electrolyte layer.

10. The sensor device according to claim 9, further comprising:

a second substrate over the secondary battery,

wherein the sensor is between the first substrate and the second substrate.

11. The sensor device according to claim 9, further comprising:

a second substrate over the secondary battery,

wherein the sensor is over the second substrate.

12. The sensor device according to claim 9, wherein the circuit includes a rectifier circuit, a demodulation circuit, a modulation circuit and a logic circuit.

13. The sensor device according to claim 9, wherein the secondary battery is a lithium-ion secondary battery.

14. The sensor device according to claim 9, wherein the sensor device is configured to be implanted in a living body.

15. The sensor device according to claim 9, wherein the first substrate is a plastic substrate.

16. The sensor device according to claim 9,

wherein the first substrate is a semiconductor substrate, and

wherein the plurality of semiconductor elements are formed using the semiconductor substrate.

17. The sensor device according to claim 9, wherein a thickness of the sensor device is less than or equal to 2 mm.

18. The sensor device according to claim 9, wherein the sensor is a pressure sensor, a photosensor, an odor sensor, or a sound sensor.

19. The sensor device according to claim 9,

wherein the antenna is configured to receive radio waves and to transmit information obtained by the sensor wirelessly, and

wherein the secondary battery is configured to store electrical energy obtained from the radio waves received by the antenna.
