1. A method for determining user liveness comprising:
- processing frames included in a sequence of frames captured by a computing device, each processed frame including image data of a biometric modality of a user captured while the computing device was moving;
geometrically normalizing, by the computing device, the image data included in each processed frame, the normalized image data for each processed frame including only pixel intensity variations of the image data;
detecting, by the computing device, changes in lighting of the biometric modality between sequential processed frames based on differences between the pixel intensity variations of the sequential processed frames, the variations being caused by the computing device movement; and
determining the user is live when changes in lighting of the biometric modality between sequential processed frames are detected.

Abstract
A method for enhancing user liveness detection is provided that includes calculating, by a computing device, parameters for each frame in a video of captured face biometric data. Each parameter results from movement of at least one of the computing device and the biometric data during capture of the biometric data. The method also includes creating a signal for each parameter and calculating a similarity score. The similarity score indicates the similarity between the signals. Moreover, the method includes determining the user is live when the similarity score is at least equal to a threshold score.
