Abstract

Systems, devices, and methods for emergency responses are provided. A client device can be provided with a response to an emergency via a networked system that can determine that the client device is located with a defined area of coverage, and can route a call session to a answering platform associated with answering station device that can facilitate a facilitate a safety service. Client devices located outside the coverage area can be directed to communicate via a call to 911.

Claims

1. A mobile computing device, comprising:

an audio signal detection device; and

a processor circuit configured to perform operations comprising;

determining a location of the mobile computing device;

establishing a connection with a destination device that facilitates a safety service within a pre-defined coverage area when the mobile computing device is within the predetermined coverage area of the destination device;

controlling the audio signal detection device to receive an audio signal;

determining a presence of a pre-defined safe keyword or safe key-phrase in the audio signal; and

in response to determining the presence of the pre-defined safe keyword or safe key-phrase, sending a distress communication to the destination device,

wherein the distress communication is sent to the destination device via a previously established connection with a server device that is functionally coupled to the destination device, the previously established connection with the server device being based on login information and established credentials associated with a previously-established user account on a remote computing device.

2. The mobile computing device of claim 1, further comprising:

a graphical user interface (GUI) that receives input, allowing a user to configure a user-profile to define the safe keyword or safe key-phrase.

3. The mobile computing device of claim 2, wherein the processor circuit is further configured to perform operations comprising:

controlling the GUI to present selectable visual elements, in response to determining the presence of the pre-defined safe keyword or safe key-phrase in the audio signal;

receiving, by the GUI, a selection of a selectable visual element; and

initiating communication between the mobile computing device and the destination device using a communication mode that is based on the selected visual element.

4. The mobile computing device of claim 3, wherein the processor circuit is further configured to perform operations comprising:

initiating communication between the mobile computing device and the destination device to establish a voice call, a text-message based chat session, or a video chat session, based on the selected visual element.

5. The mobile computing device of claim 1, wherein the processor circuit is further configured to perform operations comprising:

applying operations of a keyword model to determine the presence of the pre-defined safe keyword or safe key-phrase in the audio signal,

wherein the keyword model is a hidden Markov model and/or a Gaussian mixture model.

6. The mobile computing device of claim 1, further comprising:

a camera,

wherein the processor circuit is further configured to perform operations comprising;

controlling the camera to collect still images and/or video segments of an environment surrounding the mobile computing device, in response to determining the presence of the pre-defined safe keyword or safe key-phrase in the audio signal.

7. The mobile computing device of claim 1, wherein the processor circuit is further configured to perform operations comprising:

sending the collected still images and/or video segments to the destination device.

8. The mobile computing device of claim 1, further comprising:

an audio recording device,

wherein the processor circuit is further configured to perform operations comprising;

controlling the audio recording device to record audio signals indicative of audio external to the mobile computing device received by the audio signal detection device; and

sending the recorded audio signals to the destination device.

9. The mobile computing device of claim 1, further comprising:

a global positioning system (GPS),

wherein the processor circuit is further configured to perform operations comprising;

controlling the GPS to determine GPS coordinates of the mobile computing device; and

sending the determined GPS coordinates to the destination device.

10. The mobile computing device of claim 1, further comprising:

an accelerometer device,

wherein the processor circuit is further configured to perform operations comprising;

controlling the accelerometer device to detect an acceleration;

determining a distress condition based on the detected acceleration; and

communicating the distress condition to the destination device.

11. A processor implemented method, comprising:

determining, by a processor circuit of a mobile computing device, a location of the mobile computing device;

establishing a connection with a destination device that facilitates a safety service within a pre-defined coverage area when the mobile computing device is within the predetermined coverage area of the destination device;

controlling an audio signal detection device of the mobile computing device to receive an audio signal;

determining a presence of a pre-defined safe keyword or safe key-phrase in the audio signal; and

in response to determining the presence of the pre-defined safe keyword or safe key-phrase, sending a distress communication to the destination device,

wherein the distress communication is sent to the destination device via a previously established connection with a server device that is functionally coupled to the destination device, the previously established connection with the server device being based on login information and established credentials associated with a previously-established user account on a remote computing device.

12. The method of claim 11, further comprising:

controlling, by the processor circuit, a graphical user interface (GUI) of the mobile computing device to receive input, allowing a user to configure a user-profile to define the safe keyword or safe key-phrase.

13. The method of claim 12, further comprising:

controlling, by the processor circuit, the GUI to present selectable visual elements, in response to determining the presence of the pre-defined safe keyword or safe key-phrase in the audio signal;

receiving, by the GUI, a selection of a selectable visual element; and

initiating communication between the mobile computing device and the destination device using a communication mode that is based on the selected visual element.

14. The method of claim 13, further comprising:

initiating, the processor circuit, communication between the mobile computing device and the destination device to establish a voice call, a text-message based chat session, or a video chat session, based on the selected visual element.

15. The method of claim 11, further comprising:

applying, by the processor circuit, operations of a keyword model to determine the presence of the pre-defined safe keyword or safe key-phrase in the audio signal,

wherein the keyword model is a hidden Markov model and/or a Gaussian mixture model.

16. The method of claim 11, further comprising:

controlling, by the processor circuit, a camera of the mobile computing device to collect still images and/or video segments of an environment surrounding the mobile computing device, in response to determining the presence of the pre-defined safe keyword or safe key-phrase in the audio signal.

17. The method of claim 16, further comprising:

sending, by the processor circuit, the collected still images and/or video segments to the destination device.

18. The method of claim 11, further comprising:

controlling, by the processor circuit, an audio recording device of the mobile computing device to record audio signals indicative of audio external to the mobile computing device received by the audio signal detection device; and

sending the recorded audio signals to the destination device.

19. The method of claim 11, further comprising:

controlling, by the processor circuit, a global positioning system (GPS) of the mobile computing device to determine GPS coordinates of the mobile computing device; and

sending the determined GPS coordinates to the destination device.

20. The method of claim 11, further comprising:

controlling, by the processor circuit, an accelerometer device of the mobile computing device to detect an acceleration of the mobile computing device;

determining a distress condition based on the detected acceleration; and

communicating the distress condition to the destination device.
