1. A mobile computing device comprising:
- a processor;
a graphical user interface;
a receiving component, coupled with the processor, and configured to receive an indication of one or more information items, the indication of one or more information items comprising an audio or visual indication; and
one or more computer-readable devices, coupled with the processor, having computer-executable instructions embodied thereon that, when executed by the processor, cause the mobile computing device to;
receive the indication of one or more information items, the indication comprising an audio or visual indication;
determine the one or more information items based on the indication;
based on the one or more information items, determine a set of information items related to the one or more information items for which an indication was received;
receive a reference pointer, by the receiving component, wherein the reference pointer is associated with the set of information items;
transmit the information indicated by the reference pointer to a server;
receive, in response to the transmission, a subset of information items from the set of information items associated with the reference pointer;
display at least a portion of the received subset of information items on the graphical user interface;
monitor the set of information items to detect changes with respect to the set of information items; and
display an update to at least a subset of the set of information items based on a detected change to the set of information items on the graphical user interface.

Abstract
A system, method, and computer-readable media are provided for facilitating clinical decision making, and in particular, decision making based on a third party'"'"'s clinical situation by determining and providing useful, up-to-date information, such as patient-related information to a decision maker. In one embodiment, a user first identifies an information item concerning a patient. Based on that item, a reference pointer, which identifies the information item, is generated. The reference pointer is communicated to the user'"'"'s mobile device. Subsequently, the user'"'"'s mobile device receives updates related to the reference pointer.
