Abstract

A display apparatus and a display method thereof are provided. According to an exemplary embodiment, a display method of a display apparatus includes: displaying a plurality of display items corresponding to a plurality of content items comprising a first display item displayed in a first region and remaining display items; displaying the first display item using a first display scheme and displaying the remaining display items using a second display scheme; and in response to sensing a user interaction for moving the display items, changing the display scheme of the first display item while moving the first display item in a direction corresponding to the user interaction, displaying the first display item using the second display scheme and changing the display scheme of second display items of the removing to the first region among the rest display items to the first display scheme.

Claims

1. A display method of a display apparatus, comprising:

displaying a content image and a plurality of display items corresponding to a plurality of content items on the displayed content image, the content image corresponding to a content item of the plurality of content items, the plurality of content items comprising a first content item, a second content item and a third content item, and the plurality of display items comprising a first display item that corresponds to the first content item, a second display item that corresponds to the second content item and a third display item that corresponds to the third content item;

based on a user input for selecting the first display item, displaying the first display item in a first display scheme and displaying the second display item and the third display item in a second display scheme;

based on a user input for selecting the second display item while the first display item is displayed in the first display scheme and the second display item and the third display are displayed in the second display scheme, changing the first display scheme of the first display item to the second display scheme, changing the second display scheme of the second display item to the first display scheme, and maintaining the second display scheme of the third display item; and

based on a user input for changing a display property of the plurality of display items while the first display item is displayed in the second display scheme and the second display item is displayed in the first display scheme, changing the display scheme of the first display item which is displayed in the second display scheme to the first display scheme, changing the display scheme of the third display item which is displayed in the second display scheme to the first display scheme, and changing the display scheme of the second display item which is displayed in the first display scheme to a third display scheme,

wherein a first thumbnail, corresponding to the second display item, displayed in the first display scheme is different from a second thumbnail, corresponding to the second display item, displayed in the third display scheme, and the second display scheme is a scheme of displaying a block having a color identified based on a corresponding content item.

2. The display method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the first display scheme is a scheme of displaying thumbnail images having a first thumbnail width.

3. The display method as claimed in claim 1, wherein a width of the first display item is changed based on the display scheme of the first display item changing from the first display scheme to the second display scheme.

4. The display method as claimed in claim 3, further comprising:

based on selecting the first display item, displaying the first item in a first region; and

based on selecting the second display item while the first item is displayed in the first region, moving the plurality of display items to place the second display item in the first region.

5. The display method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the second thumbnail is one of a plurality of video frames included in the contents, and

wherein the third display scheme is a scheme of displaying a pre-established video based on a corresponding content item.

6. The display method as claimed in claim 5, further comprising:

extending the pre-established video to be displayed over an entire display, based on subsequently sensing a user interaction; and

changing a video displayed to a video corresponding to an adjacent display item in a direction corresponding to the user interaction, based on sensing the user interaction.

7. The display method as claimed in claim 6, wherein the displaying of the pre-established video over the entire display, the video corresponding to the contents is displayed.

8. The display method as claimed in claim 5, further comprising:

based on sensing a user interaction for selecting a display item to be located in a first region, changing display of the first display item to the first display scheme when a width of the pre-established video of the first display item is reduced in a first direction to be equal to or smaller than that of the second display item moving to the first region, depending on the user interaction, and changing display of the second display item to the third display scheme when the width of the second display item is increased in the first direction to be equal to or larger than that of the first display item.

The display method as claimed in claim 8, wherein based on display of the first display item changing to the first display scheme, the first display item includes a first thumbnail section in which a thumbnail image corresponding to the first display item and the pre-established video are displayed while overlapping each other, and

based on display of the second display item changing to the third display scheme, the second display item includes a second section in which an image corresponding to the second display item and the pre-established video are displayed while overlapping each other.

10. The display method as claimed in claim 1, wherein a first region is a region corresponding to a center of the plurality of display items.

11. The display method as claimed in claim 1, wherein a user interaction is at least one of a command of moving a touch point on a touch pad from a first point to a second point, a command of manipulating one of 4-way buttons, and a command of orienting a pointing remote controller.

12. The display method as claimed in claim 1, wherein in the displaying of the plurality of display items, each of the plurality of display items included in the same category among the plurality of display items is displayed to be continuously listed.

13. The display method as claimed in claim 12, wherein in the displaying of the plurality of display items, based on a user command for changing an arrangement order of the plurality of display items is input, the plurality of display items are rearranged depending on a category classification different from a previously displayed category classification.

14. The display method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the plurality of content items respectively correspond to a plurality of thumbnail images.

15. A display apparatus, comprising:

a display configured to display a content image and a plurality of display items corresponding to a plurality of content items on the displayed content image, the content image corresponding to a content item of the plurality of content items, the plurality of content items comprising a first content item, a second content item and a third content item, and the plurality of display items comprising a first display item that corresponds to the first content item, a second display item that corresponds to the second content item and a third display item that corresponds to the third content item;

a sensor configured to sense a user interaction; and

a controller configured to;

based on a user input for selecting the first display item, control the display to display the first display item in a first display scheme, and display the second display item and the third display item in a second display scheme;

based on a user input for selecting the second display item among the second display item and the third display item while the first display item is displayed in the first display scheme and the second display item and the third display are displayed in the second display scheme, change the first display scheme of the first display item to the second display scheme, change the second display scheme of the second display item to the first display scheme, and maintain the second display scheme of the third display item; and

based on a user input for changing a display property of the plurality of display items while the first display item is displayed in the second display scheme and the second display item is displayed in the first display scheme, change the display scheme of the first display item which is displayed in the second display scheme to the first display scheme, change the display scheme of the third display item which is displayed in the second display scheme to the first display scheme, and change the display scheme of the second display item which is displayed in the first display scheme to a third display scheme,

wherein a first thumbnail, corresponding to the second display item, displayed in the first display scheme is different from a second thumbnail, corresponding to the second display item, displayed in the third display scheme, and the second display scheme is a scheme of displaying a block having a color identified based on a corresponding content item.

16. The display apparatus as claimed in claim 15, wherein the controller is configured to control the display to display a thumbnail image having a first thumbnail width.

17. The display apparatus as claimed in claim 15, wherein the controller is configured to control the display to change a width of the first display item, based on the first display scheme being changed.

18. The display apparatus as claimed in claim 17, wherein the controller is configured to:

based on selecting the first display item, control the display to display the first item in a first region; and

based on selecting the second item while the first item is displayed in the first region, move the plurality of display items to place the second display item in the first region.

19. The display apparatus as claimed in claim 15, wherein the second thumbnail is one of a plurality of video frames included in the contents, and

wherein the third display scheme is a scheme of displaying a pre-established video based on a corresponding content item.

The display apparatus as claimed in claim 19, wherein the controller is configured to control the display to extend the pre-established video displayed in a first region and display the extended pre-established video over an entire region of the display when the user interaction is subsequently sensed by the sensor and change the displayed video to a video corresponding to an adjacent display item in a direction corresponding to the user interaction based on sensing the user interaction by the sensor.

The display apparatus as claimed in claim 20, wherein the controller is configured to control the display to display one of the plurality of video frames included in the contents as the pre-established video and display videos corresponding to the contents from the pre-established video over the entire region of the display.

The display apparatus as claimed in claim 19, wherein the controller is configured to control the display to change the display scheme of the first display item to the first display scheme when a width of a pre-established video of the first display item is reduced in a first direction to be equal to or smaller than that of display item moving to a first region, depending on the user interaction and change the second the display scheme of the second display item to the third display scheme when the width of the second display item is increased in the first direction to be equal to or larger than that of the first display item, in a case in which the sensor senses the user interaction for moving the display item.

The display apparatus as claimed in claim 22, wherein the controller is configured to control the first display item to include a first thumbnail section in which a thumbnail image corresponding to the first display item and the pre-established video are displayed while overlapping each other when the first display scheme of the first display item is changed to the first display scheme and the second display scheme of the second display item to include a second thumbnail section in which a thumbnail image of the second display item and the pre-established video are displayed while overlapping each other when the display scheme of the second display item is changed to the third display scheme.

24. The display apparatus as claimed in claim 15, wherein a first region is a region corresponding to a center of the plurality of display items.

25. The display apparatus as claimed in claim 15, wherein the user interaction is at least one of a command of moving a touch point on a touch pad from a first point to a second point, a command of manipulating one of 4-way buttons, and a command of orienting a pointing remote controller.

26. The display apparatus as claimed in claim 15, wherein the controller is configured to control each of the plurality of display items included in the same category among the plurality of display items to be continuously listed.

27. The display apparatus as claimed in claim 26, wherein the controller is configured to control the plurality of display items to be rearranged depending on a category classification different from a previously displayed category classification, based on a user command for changing an arrangement order of the plurality of display items is input.

28. The display apparatus as claimed in claim 15, wherein the plurality of content items respectively correspond to a plurality of thumbnail images.
