1. An electronic device, comprising:
- a touch-sensitive display;
one or more processors; and
memory storing one or more programs configured to be executed by the one or more processors, the one or more programs including instructions for;
displaying one or more visual cues on the touch-sensitive display while the electronic device is in a first state, the one or more visual cues indicating a predefined gesture on the touch-sensitive display that transitions the electronic device from the first state to a second state when performed;
detecting a contact on the touch-sensitive display while the electronic device is in the first state;
detecting movement of the contact on the touch-sensitive display;
in response to detecting the movement of the contact on the touch-sensitive display, continuously modifying an unlock image on the touch-sensitive display in accordance with the movement of the contact;
determining if the detected movement of the contact corresponds to the predefined gesture;
in accordance with a determination that the detected movement of the contact corresponds to the predefined gesture, transitioning the electronic device to the second state; and
in accordance with a determination that the detected movement of the contact does not correspond to the predefined gesture, maintaining the electronic device in the first state.

Abstract
A device with a touch-sensitive display may be unlocked via gestures performed on the touch-sensitive display. The device is unlocked if contact with the display corresponds to a predefined gesture for unlocking the device. The device displays one or more unlock images with respect to which the predefined gesture is to be performed in order to unlock the device. The performance of the predefined gesture with respect to the unlock image may include moving the unlock image to a predefined location and/or moving the unlock image along a predefined path. The device may also display visual cues of the predefined gesture on the touch screen to remind a user of the gesture.
