1. A radar sensing system for a vehicle, the radar sensing system comprising:

  • a transmitter configured for installation and use on a vehicle, and configured to transmit continuous wave radio signals, wherein the transmitter is configured to turn ON and transmit during a first time interval of a plurality of time intervals, and configured to turn OFF and not transmit during a second time interval of the plurality of time intervals that is after the first time interval;

    a receiver configured for installation and use on the vehicle, and configured to receive continuous wave radio signals, wherein the received radio signals include the transmitted radio signals reflected from targets in the environment;

    a processor, wherein the received radio signals are provided to the processor;

    wherein the processor processes the received radio signals during the plurality of time intervals, wherein different time intervals of the plurality of time intervals contain different signal levels of radio signals reflected from first and second targets in the environment, wherein the first target is closer than a first threshold distance from the vehicle, and wherein the second target is farther than the first threshold distance from the vehicle; and

    wherein, responsive to processing the received radio signals during the plurality of time intervals, the processor selects a particular time interval of the plurality of time intervals that is free of radio signals reflected off of the first target.
