a housing that houses the coupler, wherein the housing facilitates coupling the waveguide device to the transmission medium, wherein the housing has a first portion and a second portion, wherein the first portion comprises a material that reflects infrared light, and wherein the second portion does not include the material that reflects the infrared light; and
