Method and apparatus for multi-experience adaptation of media content
First Claim
1. A method, comprising:
- obtaining, by a recipient device comprising a processing system including a processor, first statistical audio information calculated from a first audio signal that is sensed at a source device of a real world environment;
obtaining, by the recipient device, second statistical audio information calculated from a second audio signal of a virtual world environment simulated by the recipient device;
determining, by the recipient device, a difference between the first audio signal of the real world environment and the second audio signal of the virtual world environment according to a difference between the first statistical audio information and the second statistical audio information;
transcoding, by the recipient device according to the difference, media content from the source device to generate transcoded media content, wherein the transcoding the media content includes modifying a format of the media content; and
modifying, by the recipient device according to the difference, a presentation of the transcoded media content to mimic the first audio signal of the real world environment at the recipient device, thereby producing a simulated first audio signal, wherein the first audio signal of the real world environment is not part of the media content from the source device, wherein the simulated first audio signal is presented in the virtual world environment as being produced by an object included in the media content from the source device.

Abstract
A method or apparatus that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a method for adapting media content of a source device for a recipient device. Characteristics of a first environment of a source device and of a second environment of a recipient can be identified. At least one difference between the characteristics of the first environment of the source device and the characteristics of the second environment of the recipient device can be determined. A presentation of media content can be modified according to the at least one difference between the characteristics of the first environment of the source device and the characteristics of the second environment of the recipient device. Other embodiments are disclosed.

12. A device, comprising:
-
a processing system including a processor; and a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processing system, facilitate performance of operations, comprising; receiving first statistical audio information calculated from a first audio signal that is sensed at a source device of a real world environment; obtaining second statistical audio information calculated from a second audio signal of a virtual world environment simulated by the device; calculating a difference between the first statistical audio information and the second statistical audio information; transcoding media content from the source device, according to the difference, to generate transcoded media content, wherein the transcoding the media content includes modifying a format of the media content; generating a modified reproduction of the transcoded media content to mimic the first audio signal of the real world environment according to the difference between the first statistical audio information and the second statistical audio information, thereby producing a simulated first audio signal, wherein the first audio signal is not part of the media content from the source device; and presenting the modified reproduction of the media content, wherein the simulated first audio signal is presented in the virtual world environment as being produced by an object included in the media content from the source device. - View Dependent Claims (13, 14, 15, 16)

17. A machine-readable storage medium, comprising executable instructions that, when executed by a processing system including a processor, facilitate performance of operations, comprising:
-
obtaining first statistical audio information determined from a first audio signal that is sensed at a source device operating at a real world environment; identifying second statistical audio information calculated from a second audio signal of a virtual world environment simulated at a recipient device; determining a difference between the first statistical audio information and the second statistical audio information; transcoding media content from the source device, according to the difference, to generate transcoded media content, wherein the transcoding the media content includes modifying a format of the media content; and adding to the transcoded media content a modified reproduction of the first audio signal, wherein the modified reproduction of the first audio signal is determined according to the difference between the first statistical audio information and the second statistical audio information, wherein the first audio signal is not part of the media content, and wherein the modified reproduction of the first audio signal is presented in the virtual world environment as being produced by an object included in the media content from the source device. - View Dependent Claims (18, 19, 20)
