1. A stapling assembly for use with a surgical stapling instrument for stapling and cutting tissue, said stapling assembly comprising:

  • a fixed metal anvil extending from a frame of the surgical stapling instrument, wherein said fixed anvil comprises a tapered distal end;

    a cartridge support comprising a base, wherein said base comprises a longitudinal groove defined therein;

    a firing member including a tissue cutting portion, wherein said firing member comprises a foot, and wherein said foot is closely received by said longitudinal groove defined in said base of said cartridge support; and

    a replaceable cartridge configured to be received by said cartridge support, wherein said replaceable cartridge comprises;

    a proximal end;

    a distal end;

    a longitudinal slot extending from said proximal end toward said distal end, wherein said longitudinal slot is configured to receive said firing member;

    a first longitudinal row of staple cavities, wherein each staple cavity within said first longitudinal row comprises a first longitudinal width;

    a second longitudinal row of staple cavities, wherein each staple cavity within said second longitudinal row comprises a second longitudinal width, and wherein said first longitudinal width is the same as said second longitudinal width;

    a plurality of first staples positioned in said first longitudinal row of staple cavities;

    a plurality of second staples positioned in said second longitudinal row of staple cavities;

    a plurality of drivers configured to drive said first staples and said second staples against said fixed anvil; and

    a sled movable from said proximal end toward said distal end, wherein said sled is configured to lift said drivers toward said fixed anvil to deform said first staples to a first formed height and said second staples to a second formed height, wherein said first formed height is different than said second formed height.
