1. A method, comprising:
- storing a first playlist in a storage medium of an apparatus, wherein the apparatus is associated with a subscriber of a media service provided via a network, and wherein a status of the first playlist indicates that the first playlist is not public;
updating the status of the first playlist to indicate that the first playlist is public in response to receiving an input on the apparatus, wherein the first playlist includes a plurality of identifiers of media files, and wherein the first playlist is available for access to a plurality of devices associated with a plurality of other subscribers of the media service after updating the status of the first playlist to indicate that the first playlist is public;
modifying the first playlist to be a modified playlist;
sending the modified playlist to the network;
receiving a second playlist published by a device of the plurality of devices from the network, wherein the second playlist identifies one or more media files; and
storing the second playlist.
