1. An apparatus, comprising:

  • a wireless station adapted for communications in a wireless network;

    wherein the wireless network uses a High Throughput Control (HTC) field for signaling such that the HTC field can be concatenated with control frames and requires that any station shall assert a network allocation vector (NAV) when any frame of a first type and a first subtype has been received, the first type and the first subtype indicative of a frame with the HTC field; and

    wherein the wireless station is configured to encode the frame with the first subtype and is constructed to deliver the frame as a Control Frame +HTC to wireless stations operable in the wireless network, thereby enabling other stations operating in the wireless network to be able to assert the NAV from a duration field of the frame, wherein the Control Frame +HTC is a control frame that comprises an HTC field.
