1. A delivery catheter for endoluminal delivery of a prosthesis comprising:

  • a thin-walled, flexible tubular component having a distal opening;

    an inner component at least partially disposed within the tubular component; and

    a distal tip attached to the inner component, the distal tip having a distally tapered segment, a proximally facing abutment surface, a shelf segment and a proximally tapered segment, the shelf segment being comprised of a compressible material and having a constant outer diameter along an entire length thereof, wherein the length of the shelf segment is defined between the proximally facing abutment surface and a distal end of the proximally tapered segment,wherein, in a delivery configuration of the delivery catheter, the shelf segment of the distal tip has an interference fit within the distal opening of the tubular component due to compression of the shelf segment within the distal opening.
