Abstract

The present disclosure relates to making payments with a mobile device. In one example process, the mobile device receives and stores information for one or more payment accounts on the mobile device. The mobile device is used to make payments using the payment accounts. In some examples, authorization to proceed with a payment is performed before each purchase made by the user. The authorization process can include receiving a verification of the user, such as a fingerprint scan or passcode. In some examples, a payment account is selected from among available payment accounts. In some examples, an indication is displayed of a digital item associated with a purchased item. In some examples, a payment transaction is initiated with participants of an ongoing communication. In some examples, an application of a retailer is invoked based on the availability of the application. In some examples, a purchase recommendation is provided.

Claims

1. An electronic device, comprising:

a display one or more processors;

memory; and

one or more programs, wherein the one or more programs are stored in the memory and configured to be executed by the one or more processors, the one or more programs including instructions for;

displaying, on the display, a user interface that includes information identifying a first retailer;

while displaying the user interface that includes the information identifying the first retailer, receiving a request to initiate a payment transaction with the first retailer;

in response to receiving the request to initiate the payment transaction with the first retailer;

in accordance with a determination that an application of the first retailer is available on the electronic device, invoking the application of the first retailer, wherein the application of the first retailer enables a user to initiate the payment transaction with the first retailer; and

in accordance with a determination that the application of the first retailer is not available on the electronic device, providing the user with an option for proceeding with the payment transaction without invoking the application of the first retailer.

2. The electronic device of claim 1, the one or more programs further including instructions for:

in accordance with a determination that the application of the first retailer is not available on the electronic device and is available for download, displaying a download affordance associated with the application of the first retailer.

3. The electronic device of claim 1, wherein the application of the first retailer is not available when it is not installed on the electronic device.

4. The electronic device of claim 1, the one or more programs further including instructions for:

in accordance with a determination that the application of the first retailer is not available on the electronic device;

determining whether the application of the first retailer is available for download;

in accordance with a determination that the application of the first retailer is available for download, displaying a download affordance associated with the application of the first retailer; and

in accordance with a determination that an application of the first retailer is not available for download, providing the user with the option for proceeding with the payment transaction without invoking an application of the first retailer.

5. The electronic device of claim 1, wherein:

providing the user with the option for proceeding with the payment transaction without invoking an application of the first retailer comprises;

determining a type of the first retailer;

selecting a first template from among a plurality of templates based on the type of the first retailer; and

displaying one or more items of the first retailer using the selected first template.

6. The electronic device of claim 5, wherein the first retailer populates the selected first template with the one or more items.

7. The electronic device of claim 5, wherein publicly available information is used to populate the selected first template with the one or more items.

8. The electronic device of claim 5, the one or more programs further including instructions for:

providing the user with an option for proceeding with a second payment transaction with a second retailer without invoking an application of the second retailer by;

determining a type of the second retailer;

selecting a second template from among the plurality of templates based on the type of the second retailer; and

displaying one or more items of the second retailer using the selected second template; and

wherein the first template and the second template are the same when the type of the first retailer and the type of the second retailer are the same.

9. The electronic device of claim 8, wherein the first template and the second template are different when the type of the first retailer and the type of the second retailer are different.

10. The electronic device of claim 1, wherein:

providing the user with the option for proceeding with the payment transaction without invoking an application of the first retailer comprises invoking a second application; and

the application of the first retailer, and the second application are different applications.

11. The electronic device of claim 10, wherein the second application includes a payment affordance for proceeding with the payment transaction using a payment account linked to the electronic device.

12. The electronic device of claim 1, the one or more programs further including instructions for:

receiving a request to authorize the payment transaction; and

in response to receiving the request to authorize the payment transaction, authorizing the payment transaction.

13. The electronic device of claim 1, wherein the user interface that includes information identifying the first retailer is for one of a maps application or a browser application.

14. A method, comprising:

at an electronic device with a display;

displaying, on the display, a user interface that includes information identifying a first retailer;

while displaying the user interface that includes the information identifying the first retailer, receiving a request to initiate a payment transaction with the first retailer;

in response to receiving the request to initiate the payment transaction with the first retailer;

in accordance with a determination that an application of the first retailer is available on the electronic device, invoking the application of the first retailer, wherein the application of the first retailer enables a user to initiate th payment transaction with the first retailer; and

in accordance with a determination that the application of the first retailer is not available on the electronic device, providing the user with an option for proceeding with the payment transaction without invoking the application of the first retailer.

15. The method of claim 14, further comprising:

in accordance with a determination that the application of the first retailer is not available on the electronic device and is available for download, displaying a download affordance associated with the application of the first retailer.

16. The method of claim 14, wherein the application of the first retailer is not available when it is not installed on the electronic device.

17. The method of claim 14, further comprising:

in accordance with a determination that the application of the first retailer is not available on the electronic device;

determining whether the application of the first retailer is available for download;

in accordance with a determination that the application of the first retailer is available for download, displaying a download affordance associated with the application of the first retailer; and

in accordance with a determination that an application of the first retailer is not available for download, providing the user with the option for proceeding with the payment transaction without invoking an application of the first retailer.

18. The method of claim 14, wherein:

providing the user with the option for proceeding with the payment transaction without invoking an application of the first retailer comprises;

determining a type of the first retailer;

selecting a first template from among a plurality of templates based on the type of the first retailer; and

displaying one or more items of the first retailer using the selected first template.

19. The method of claim 18, wherein the first retailer populates the selected first template with the one or more items.

20. The method of claim 18, wherein publicly available information is used to populate the selected first template with the one or more items.

21. The method of claim 18, further comprising:

providing the user with an option for proceeding with a second payment transaction with a second retailer without invoking an application of the second retailer by;

determining a type of the second retailer;

selecting a second template from among the plurality of templates based on the type of the second retailer; and

displaying one or more items of the second retailer using the selected second template; and

wherein the first template and the second template are the same when the type of the first retailer and the type of the second retailer are the same.

22. The method of claim 21, wherein the first template and the second template are different when the type of the first retailer and the type of the second retailer are different.

23. The method of claim 14, wherein:

providing the user with the option for proceeding with the payment transaction without invoking an application of the first retailer comprises invoking a second application; and

the application of the first retailer, and the second application are different applications.

24. The method of claim 23, wherein the second application includes a payment affordance for proceeding with the payment transaction using a payment account linked to the electronic device.

25. The method of claim 14, further comprising:

receiving a request to authorize the payment transaction; and

in response to receiving the request to authorize the payment transaction, authorizing the payment transaction.

26. The method of claim 14, wherein the user interface that includes information identifying the first retailer is for one of a maps application or a browser application.

31. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 15, wherein:

providing the user with the option for proceeding with the payment transaction without invoking an application of the first retailer comprises;

determining a type of the first retailer;

selecting a first template from among a plurality of templates based on the type of the first retailer; and

displaying one or more items of the first retailer using the selected first template.

32. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 31, wherein the first retailer populates the selected first template with the one or more items.

33. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 31, wherein publicly available information is used to populate the selected first template with the one or more items.

34. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 31, the one or more programs further including instructions for:

providing the user with an option for proceeding with a second payment transaction with a second retailer without invoking an application of the second retailer by;

determining a type of the second retailer;

selecting a second template from among the plurality of templates based on the type of the second retailer; and

displaying one or more items of the second retailer using the selected second template; and

wherein the first template and the second template are the same when the type of the first retailer and the type of the second retailer are the same.

35. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 34, wherein the first template and the second template are different when the type of the first retailer and the type of the second retailer are different.

27. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing one or more programs configured to be executed by one or more processors of an electronic device with a display, the one or more programs including instructions for:

displaying, on the display, a user interface that includes information identifying a first retailer;

while displaying the user interface that includes the information identifying the first retailer, receiving a request to initiate a payment transaction with the first retailer;

in response to receiving the request to initiate the payment transaction with the first retailer;

in accordance with a determination that an application of the first retailer is available on the electronic device, invoking the application of the first retailer, wherein the application of the first retailer enables a user to initiate the payment transaction with the first retailer; and

in accordance with a determination that the application of the first retailer is not available on the electronic device, providing the user with an option for proceeding with the payment transaction without invoking the application of the first retailer.

28. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 27, the one or more programs further including instructions for:

in accordance with a determination that the application of the first retailer is not available on the electronic device and is available for download, displaying a download affordance associated with the application of the first retailer.

29. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 27, wherein the application of the first retailer is not available when it is not installed on the electronic device.

30. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 27, the one or more programs further including instructions for:

in accordance with a determination that the application of the first retailer is not available on the electronic device;

determining whether the application of the first retailer is available for download;

in accordance with a determination that the application of the first retailer is available for download, displaying a download affordance associated with the application of the first retailer; and

in accordance with a determination that an application of the first retailer is not available for download, providing the user with the option for proceeding with the payment transaction without invoking an application of the first retailer.

36. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 27, wherein:

providing the user with the option for proceeding with the payment transaction without invoking an application of the first retailer comprises invoking a second application; and

the application of the first retailer, and the second application are different applications.

37. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 36, wherein the second application includes a payment affordance for proceeding with the payment transaction using a payment account linked to the electronic device.

38. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 27, the one or more programs further including instructions for:

receiving a request to authorize the payment transaction; and

in response to receiving the request to authorize the payment transaction, authorizing the payment transaction.

39. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 27, wherein the user interface that includes information identifying the first retailer is for one of a maps application or a browser application.
