Abstract

In a tablet integrated type liquid crystal display apparatus, a first transparent substrate is provided on a view side. The first substrate is a plastic substrate having a thickness equal to or thinner than 0.6 mm, and a counter electrode is formed on the first substrate. A second substrate on which a driving layer composed of switching elements and pixel electrodes respectively connected to the switching elements is formed. The second substrate is a glass substrate having a thickness in a range of 0.6 mm to 1.1 mm. A guest host liquid crystal layer sandwiched by the first substrate and the second substrate such that the guest host liquid crystal is driven by a voltage applied between the counter electrode and the pixel electrode. A tablet electrode layer may be provided between the first substrate and the counter electrode. Alternatively, a tablet electrode layer may be provided on the first substrate on an opposite side of the counter electrode. In this case, a protecting film is provided on the tablet electrode layer. In addition, a tablet electrode layer may be provided between the second substrate and the driving layer such that the tablet electrode layer is isolated from the driving layer.

Claims

1. A tablet integrated type liquid crystal display apparatus comprising:

a first transparent substrate provided on a view side, wherein said first substrate has a thickness equal to or thinner than 0.6 mm, and wherein a counter electrode is formed on said first substrate;

a second substrate on which a driving layer composed of switching elements and pixel electrodes respectively connected to said switching elements is formed; and

a guest host liquid crystal layer sandwiched by said first substrate and said second substrate such that said guest host liquid crystal is driven by a voltage applied between said counter electrode and said pixel electrode.

2. A tablet integrated type liquid crystal display apparatus according to

claim 1

, further comprising a tablet electrode layer provided between said first substrate and said counter electrode such that said tablet electrode layer is isolated from said counter electrode.

3. A tablet integrated type liquid crystal display apparatus according to

claim 1

, further comprising a tablet electrode layer provided on said first substrate on an opposite side of said counter electrode.

4. A tablet integrated type liquid crystal display apparatus according to

claim 3

, further comprising a protecting film provided on said tablet electrode layer.

5. A tablet integrated type liquid crystal display apparatus according to

claim 1

, further comprising a tablet device provided on said first substrate on an opposite side of said counter electrode.

6. A tablet integrated type liquid crystal display apparatus according to

claim 1

, further comprising a tablet electrode layer provided between said second substrate and said driving layer such that said tablet electrode layer is isolated from said driving layer.

7. A tablet integrated type liquid crystal display apparatus according to

claim 1

, wherein said pixel electrodes functions as reflecting plates in addition to the driving of said guest host liquid crystal.

8. A tablet integrated type liquid crystal display apparatus according to

claim 1

, wherein said first substrate is a plastic substrate and said second substrate is a glass substrate having a thickness in a range of 0.6 mm to 1.1 mm.

9. A tablet integrated type liquid crystal display apparatus comprising:

a first transparent substrate provided on a view side, wherein an counter electrode is formed on said first substrate;

a second substrate on which a driving layer composed of switching elements and pixel electrodes respectively connected to said switching elements is formed;

a plurality of insulative supports provided between said first substrate and said second substrate to prevent said first substrate from being bent; and

a liquid crystal layer sandwiched by said first substrate and said second substrate such that said liquid crystal is driven by a voltage applied between said counter electrode and said pixel electrode.

10. A tablet integrated type liquid crystal display apparatus according to

claim 9

, further comprising a tablet electrode layer provided between said first substrate and said counter electrode such that said tablet electrode layer is isolated from said counter electrode.

11. A tablet integrated type liquid crystal display apparatus according to

claim 9

, further comprising a tablet electrode layer provided on said first substrate on a side opposite to said counter electrode.

12. A tablet integrated type liquid crystal display apparatus according to

claim 11

, further comprising a protecting film provided on said tablet electrode layer.

13. A tablet integrated type liquid crystal display apparatus according to

claim 9

, further comprising a tablet device provided on said first substrate on a side opposite to said counter electrode.

14. A tablet integrated type liquid crystal display apparatus according to

, further comprising a tablet electrode layer provided between said second substrate and said driving layer such that said tablet electrode layer is isolated from said driving layer.

15. A tablet integrated type liquid crystal display apparatus according to

, wherein said pixel electrodes functions as reflecting plates in addition to the driving of said guest host liquid crystal.

16. A tablet integrated type liquid crystal display apparatus according to

claim 9

, wherein said first substrate is a plastic substrate and said second substrate is a glass substrate having a thickness in a range of 0.6 mm to 1.1 mm.

17. A tablet integrated type liquid crystal display apparatus according to

claim 9

, wherein each of said plurality of supports is arranged in correspondence with at least one pixel.

18. A tablet integrated type liquid crystal display apparatus comprising:

a first transparent plastic substrate provided on a view side, wherein said first substrate has a thickness equal to or thinner than 0.6 mm, and wherein an tablet electrode layer, an insulating layer and a counter electrode are laminated on said first substrate;

a second glass substrate having a thickness in a range 0.6 mm to 1.1 mm, wherein a driving layer composed of switching elements and pixel electrodes respectively connected to said switching elements is formed on said second substrate; and

a guest host liquid crystal layer sandwiched by said first substrate and said second substrate such that said guest host liquid crystal is driven by a voltage applied between said counter electrode and said pixel electrode.

19. A tablet integrated type liquid crystal display apparatus comprising:

a first transparent plastic substrate provided on a view side, wherein said first substrate has a thickness equal to or thinner than 0.6 mm, and wherein a counter electrode is formed on said first substrate;

a second glass substrate having a thickness in a range 0.6 mm to 1.1 mm, wherein a driving layer composed of switching elements and pixel electrodes respectively connected to said switching elements is formed on said second substrate;

a guest host liquid crystal layer sandwiched by said first substrate and said second substrate such that said guest host liquid crystal is driven by a voltage applied between said counter electrode and said pixel electrode; and

a tablet device provided on said first substrate on a side opposite to said counter electrode.

20. A tablet integrated type liquid crystal display apparatus comprising:

a first transparent plastic substrate provided on a view side, wherein said first substrate has a thickness equal to or thinner than 0.6 mm, and wherein a counter electrode is formed on said first substrate;

a second glass substrate having a thickness in a range 0.6 mm to 1.1 mm, wherein a tablet electrode layer, an insulating layer and a driving layer which is composed of switching elements and pixel electrodes respectively connected to said switching elements are laminated on said second substrate; and

a guest host liquid crystal layer sandwiched by said first substrate and said second substrate such that said guest host liquid crystal is driven by a voltage applied between said counter electrode and said pixel electrode.
