Abstract

A video data storing unit stores video data pieces. An editing information generating unit generates editing information sets. A copyright information storing unit stores a standard copyright royalty fee for each video data piece. A royalty fee calculation unit calculates a total copyright royalty fee using the editing information sets and the standard copyright royalty fees. An upper limit judging unit judges whether the total copyright royalty fee exceeds an upper limit. If the total copyright royalty fee exceeds the upper limit, a reediting unit deletes part of a clip to reduce the total copyright royalty fee to a level no more than the upper limit.

Claims

1. A video editing apparatus that edits a plurality of video material data pieces to generate a video program, comprising:

a video content data storing unit operable to store the video program generated by editing the plurality of video material data pieces;

a copyright royalty storing unit operable to store copyright information showing standard copyright royalties that respectively correspond to the plurality of video material data pieces; and

a calculation unit operable to calculate a total copyright royalty for the video program according to the copyright information.

2. The video editing apparatus of

claim 1

further comprising:

a maximum royalty receiving unit operable to receive, from a user, a designation of a maximum copyright royalty;

a maximum royalty judging unit operable to judge whether the total copyright royalty exceeds the maximum copyright royalty; and

a warning unit operable to output a warning for the user, if a judgement result of the maximum royalty judging unit is positive.

3. The video editing apparatus of

claim 2

wherein the video program stored in the video content data storing unit is composed of a plurality of clips, each of which is all or part of a video material data piece,

each standard copyright royalty shown by the copyright information is set for a unit size of a corresponding video material data piece, and

the calculation unit calculates the total copyright royalty by (1) calculating a copyright royalty for each clip according to a size of the clip and a standard copyright royalty corresponding to a video material data piece, all or part of which forms the clip, and (2) totaling the copyright royalties that have been calculated for the plurality of clips.

4. The video editing apparatus of

claim 3

further comprising:

a video reediting unit operable to delete part of a clip, out of the plurality of clips; and

a repeat control unit operable to have, if the judgement result of the maximum royalty judging unit is positive, the video reediting unit, the calculation unit, and the maximum royalty judging unit repeatedly operate until the total copyright royalty becomes no more than the maximum copyright royalty.

5. The video editing apparatus of

claim 1

wherein each video material data piece includes a plurality of partial video data pieces,

each clip includes at least one partial video data piece of a video material data piece,

the copyright royalty storing unit stores a plurality of deletion information pieces, each of which corresponds to one partial video data piece and shows whether a deletion of the corresponding partial video data piece is allowed, and

the video reediting unit deletes part of a partial video data piece, whose deletion is shown as allowed by a corresponding deletion information piece, in a clip.

6. The video editing apparatus of

claim 5

is connected to a billing management apparatus via a communication line, the billing management apparatus receiving billing information showing a total copyright royalty finally calculated by the calculation unit,

the video editing apparatus further comprising:

a billing information transmission unit operable to transmit the billing information to the billing management apparatus via the communication line.

7. The video editing apparatus of

claim 5

wherein each video material data piece is given at least one usage condition that needs to be satisfied when the video material data piece is used,

the copyright information shows a plurality of standard copyright royalties for each video material data piece, each standard copyright royalty for a video material data piece corresponding to one usage condition given to the video material data piece, and

the calculation unit includes:

a usage condition receiving unit for receiving, from the user, a designation of a program usage condition that should be satisfied when the video program is used; and

a copyright royalty calculation unit for reading each standard copyright royalty, which corresponds to the program usage condition, from the copyright royalty storing unit and calculating the total copyright royalty using each read standard copyright royalty.

8. The video editing apparatus of

claim 7

wherein each standard copyright royalty for a video material data piece corresponds to one set including at least one of (1) a distribution pattern of the video material data piece, (2) a security level when the video material data piece is used, (3) an elapsed time from a generation of the video material data piece, and (4) a picture quality of the video material data piece,

the usage condition receiving unit receives, as the program usage condition, at least one of (5) a distribution pattern of the video program, (6) a security level when the video program is used, (7) an elapsed time from a generation of the video program, and (8) a picture quality of the video program, and

the copyright royalty calculation unit reads, from the copyright royalty storing unit, each standard copyright royalty that corresponds to the at least one of the distribution pattern, the security level, the elapsed time, and the picture quality that are received as the program usage condition.

9. The video editing apparatus of

claim 5

further comprising an information obtaining unit operable to obtain the copyright information from outside and writing the obtained copyright information into the copyright royalty storing unit.

10. The video editing apparatus of

claim 9

is connected to a copyright information providing apparatus, which provides the copyright information, via the communication line,

wherein the information obtaining unit obtains the copyright information from the copyright information providing apparatus.

11. The video editing apparatus of

claim 9

wherein a removable recording medium prestores the copyright information, and

the information obtaining unit reads the copyright information from the removable recording medium.

12. A video editing method of editing a plurality of video material data pieces to generate a video program, comprising:

a video content data storing step for storing the video program generated by editing the plurality of video material data pieces;

a copyright royalty storing step for storing copyright information showing standard copyright royalties that respectively correspond to the plurality of video material data pieces; and

a calculation step for calculating a total copyright royalty for the video program according to the copyright information.

13. The video editing method of

claim 12

further comprising:

a maximum royalty receiving step for receiving, from a user, a designation of a maximum copyright royalty;

a maximum royalty judging step for judging whether the total copyright royalty exceeds the maximum copyright royalty; and

a warning step for outputting a warning for the user, if a judgement result in the maximum royalty judging step is positive.

14. The video editing method of

claim 13

wherein the video program stored in the video content data storing step is composed of a plurality of clips, each of which is all or part of a video material data piece,

each standard copyright royalty shown by the copyright information is set for a unit size of a corresponding video material data piece, and

the calculation step calculates the total copyright royalty by (1) calculating a copyright royalty for each clip according to a size of the clip and a standard copyright royalty corresponding to a video material data piece, all or part of which forms the clip, and (2) totaling the copyright royalties that have been calculated for the plurality of clips.

15. The video editing method of

claim 14

further comprising:

a video reediting step for deleting part of a clip, out of the plurality of clips; and

a repeat control step for repeating, if the judgement result in the maximum royalty judging step is positive, the video reediting step, the calculation step, and the maximum royalty judging step until the total copyright royalty becomes no more than the maximum copyright royalty.

16. A computer-readable recording medium that records a video editing program for editing a plurality of video material data pieces to generate a video program,

the program comprising:

a video content data storing step for storing the video program generated by editing the plurality of video material data pieces;

a copyright royalty storing step for storing copyright information showing standard copyright royalties that respectively correspond to the plurality of video material data pieces; and

a calculation step for calculating a total copyright royalty for the video program according to the copyright information.

17. The computer-readable recording medium of

claim 16

wherein the program further comprises:

a maximum royalty receiving step for receiving, from a user, a designation of a maximum copyright royalty;

a maximum royalty judging step for judging whether the total copyright royalty exceeds the maximum copyright royalty; and

a warning step for outputting a warning for the user, if a judgement result in the maximum royalty judging step is positive.

18. The computer-readable recording medium of

claim 17

wherein the video program stored in the video content data storing step is composed of a plurality of clips, each of which is all or part of a video material data piece,

each standard copyright royalty shown by the copyright information is set for a unit size of a corresponding video material data piece, and

the calculation step calculates the total copyright royalty by (1) calculating a copyright royalty for each clip according to a size of the clip and a standard copyright royalty corresponding to a video material data piece, all or part of which forms the clip, and (2) totaling the copyright royalties that have been calculated for the plurality of clips.

19. The computer-readable recording medium of

wherein the program further comprises:

a video reediting step for deleting part of a clip, out of the plurality of clips; and

a repeat control step for repeating, if the judgement result in the maximum royalty judging step is positive, the video reediting step, the calculation step, and the maximum royalty judging step until the total copyright royalty becomes no more than the maximum copyright royalty.

20. The computer-readable recording medium of

wherein each video material data piece includes a plurality of partial video data pieces,

each clip includes at least one partial video data piece of a video material data piece,

the copyright royalty storing step stores a plurality of deletion information pieces, each of which corresponds to one partial video data piece and shows whether a deletion of the corresponding partial video data piece is allowed, and

the video reediting step deletes part of a partial video data piece, whose deletion is shown as allowed by a corresponding deletion information piece, in a clip.
