Abstract

A system is disclosed that facilitates creation of a web-based user interface which obtains user profile information from a database, gathers information from one or more users regarding product characteristics, correlates the user responses, performs statistical analysis of the user responses and presents the statistical analysis in a user comprehendible manner. The system also stores statistical ratings in a database correlated to a particular product or service. Ratings are provided to a user from the database based on a particular product or service, and the database can be queried to retrieve one or more user profiles that have rated a product of interest to the current use.

Claims

1. A method for creating a user network interface, comprising the steps of:

(a) obtaining user profile information;

(b) gathering information from one or more users regarding product characteristics;

(c) correlating the user responses;

(d) performing statistical analysis of the user responses; and

(e) presenting the statistical analysis in a user comprehendible manner.

2. A method for creating a user network interface as recited in claim 1, including the step of storing statistical ratings in a database correlated to a particular product or service.

3. A method for creating a user network interface as recited in claim 1, including the step of providing ratings to a user from the database based on a particular product or service.

4. A method for creating a user network interface as recited in claim 1, including the step of querying the database to retrieve one or more user profiles that have rated a product of interest to the current user.

5. A method for creating a user network interface as recited in claim 1, including the step of statistically analyzing the one or more user profiles to identify those profiles that correlate with the current user profile.

6. A method for creating a user network interface as recited in claim 1, including the step of statistically analyzing one or more user profiles that correspond to the current user profile to create one or more composite statistics.

7. A method for creating a user network interface as recited in claim 1, including the step of creating a template based on features of a product.

8. A method for creating a user network interface as recited in claim 1, including the step of combining a template of information and one or more composite statistics to prepare a user display.

9. A method for creating a user network interface as recited in claim 1, including the step of modifying a statistical analysis based on information from a user profile.

10. An apparatus that creates an information summary, comprising;

(a) a processor;

(b) a memory that stores information under the control of the processor;

(c) logic that obtains user profile information;

(d) logic that gathers information from one or more users regarding product characteristics;

(e) logic that correlates the user responses;

(f) logic that performs statistical analysis of the user responses; and

(g) logic that presents the statistical analysis in a user comprehendible manner.

11. A computer program embodied on a computer-readable medium that creates an information summary, comprising:

(a) a code segment that obtains user profile information;

(b) a code segment that gathers information from one or more users regarding product characteristics;

(c) a code segment that correlates the user responses;

(d) a code segment that performs statistical analysis of the user responses; and

(e) a code segment that presents the statistical analysis in a user comprehendible manner.

12. A computer program embodied on a computer-readable medium that creates an information summary as recited in claim 11, including logic that stores statistical ratings in a database correlated to a particular product or service.

13. A computer program embodied on a computer-readable medium that creates an information summary as recited in claim 11, including logic that provides ratings to a user from the database based on a particular product or service.

14. A computer program embodied on a computer-readable medium that creates an information summary as recited in claim 11, including logic that queries the database to retrieve one or more user profiles that have rated a product of interest to the current user.

15. A computer program embodied on a computer-readable medium that creates an information summary as recited in claim 11, including logic that statistically analyzes the one or more user profiles to identify those profiles that correlate with the current user profile.

16. A computer program embodied on a computer-readable medium that creates an information summary as recited in claim 11, including logic that statistically analyzes one or more user profiles that correspond to the current user profile to create one or more composite statistics.

17. A computer program embodied on a computer-readable medium that creates an information summary as recited in claim 11, including logic that creates a template based on features of a product.

18. A computer program embodied on a computer-readable medium that creates an information summary as recited in claim 11, including logic that combines a template of information and one or more composite statistics to prepare a user display.
