Abstract

Method and system for providing a data marking device data searching system including a user terminal connected to a server terminal over an internet connection for transmitting find music search request, the server terminal in response accessing one or more storage units and retrieving corresponding information such as other marked data for transmission to the user terminal is disclosed.

Claims

1. A data marking device data searching system, comprising:

a data network;

a user terminal coupled to the data network configured to transmit a search request corresponding to a marked data; and

a server terminal coupled to a data network configured to access one or more storage units in response to said search request received from said user terminal, and to transmit a result corresponding to said search request to said user terminal.

2. The system of claim 1 wherein said data network includes one of a Local Area Network (LAN), a Wide Area Network (WAN), and an internet connection.

3. The system of claim 1 wherein said user terminal includes one of a personal computer, an internet access enabled personal digital assistant, Wireless Application Protocol enabled mobile telephone, and an i-mode enabled mobile telephone.

4. The system of claim 1 wherein said user terminal and said server terminal are coupled to said data network using one of a TCP/IP protocol, and an Appletalk protocol.

5. The system of claim 1 wherein said search request includes an indication of selecting said marked data.

6. The system of claim 5 wherein said indication includes a drag an drop operation of an icon representative of said marked data displayed on said user terminal to an icon representative of said search request.

7. The system of claim 6 wherein said icon representative of said marked data includes a hypertext link.

8. The system of claim 6 wherein said icon representative of said search request includes one of a two-dimensional still image or a three-dimensional still image, and a dynamic video image.

9. The system of claim 1 wherein said user terminal is configured to output a search request in progress display after said search request is transmitted.

10. The system of claim 1 wherein said one or more storage units of the server terminal includes one or more user playlist databases.

11. The system of claim 10 wherein each of said one or more user playlist databases includes information corresponding to the marked data corresponding to the respective users.

12. The system of claim 1 wherein said marked data includes information corresponding to a bookmarked music clip broadcast over a radio station.

13. The system of claim 12 wherein said information corresponding to the bookmarked music clip includes one or more of a name of the music clip, a name of the music clip artist, and a name of the music clip album.

14. The system of claim 1 wherein the result corresponding to the search request transmitted to the user terminal includes one or more of information corresponding to music clips broadcast over one or more radio stations.

15. A data marking device data searching system, comprising:

a data network;

a plurality of user terminals each coupled to the data network, one of said user terminals configured to transmit a search request corresponding to a marked data; and

a server terminal coupled to said data network configured to access storage units each corresponding to a respective one of said plurality of user terminals in response to said search request received from said one user terminal, and to transmit a result corresponding to said search request to said one user terminal.

16. The system of claim 15 wherein each of said plurality of user terminals includes one of a personal computer, an internet access enabled personal digital assistant, Wireless Application Protocol enabled mobile telephone, and an i-mode enabled mobile telephone.

17. The system of claim 15 wherein said plurality of user terminals and said server terminal are coupled to said data network using one of a TCP/IP protocol, and an Appletalk protocol.

18. The system of claim 15 wherein said search request includes an indication of selecting said marked data.

19. The system of claim 18 wherein said indication includes a drag an drop operation of an icon representative of said marked data displayed on said one user terminal to an icon representative of said search request.

20. The system of claim 19 wherein said icon representative of said marked data includes a hypertext link.

21. The system of claim 19 wherein said icon representative of said search request includes one of a two-dimensional still image or a three-dimensional still image, and a dynamic video image.

22. The system of claim 15 wherein said one user terminal is configured to output a search request in progress display after said search request is transmitted.

23. The system of claim 15 wherein said storage units of the server terminal includes one or more user playlist databases corresponding to each of a respective user terminal.

24. The system of claim 23 wherein each of said one or more user playlist databases includes information corresponding to the marked data corresponding to the respective user terminals.

25. The system of claim 15 wherein said marked data includes information corresponding to a bookmarked music clip broadcast over a radio station.

26. The system of claim 25 wherein said information corresponding to the bookmarked music clip includes one or more of a name of the music clip, a name of the music clip artist, and a name of the music clip album.

27. The system of claim 15 wherein the result corresponding to the search request transmitted to the user terminal includes one or more of information corresponding to music clips broadcast over one or more radio stations.

28. A data marking device data searching system, comprising:

a data network; and

a plurality of user terminals each coupled to the data network, one of said user terminal configured to transmit a search request corresponding to a marked data, wherein said one or more other of said plurality of user terminals configured to permit access to said one user terminal to perform a data searching operation.

29. The system of claim 28 wherein said of said plurality of user terminals includes a storage unit configured to store a user playlist database.

30. The system of claim 28 wherein said one user terminal is configured to display a search result based on said data searching operation.

31. The system of claim 28 wherein said data searching operation includes accessing a storage unit of said of said other plurality of user terminals and retrieving data corresponding to said marked data.

32. The system of claim 31 wherein said data corresponding to said marked data retrieved from said storage units of said other user terminals includes information corresponding to broadcast music clips marked by the users of the respective other user terminals.

33. A method, comprising:

initiating a music search operation;

receiving for display a search pending status data; and

receiving a playlist corresponding to said search operation.

34. The method of claim 33 wherein said initiating step includes selecting a bookmarked music.

35. The method of claim 33 wherein said search pending status data includes one or more of a text data, a two-dimensional image data, a three-dimensional image data, and a dynamic video data.

36. The method of claim 33 wherein said playlist includes information corresponding to bookmarked broadcast music including a name information, an artist information and an album information of the bookmarked music.

37. The method of claim 33 further including storing said received playlist.

38. The method of claim 33 further including deleting said received playlist.

39. A method, comprising:

detecting a data search operation initiation;

retrieving information corresponding to said search operation; and

transmitting said retrieved information.

40. The method of claim 39 wherein said data search operation initiation includes receiving a user selected marked data for said search operation.

41. The method of claim 39 wherein said retrieving step includes accessing one or more databases.

42. The method of claim 41 wherein said one or more databases includes user playlist databases.

43. The method of claim 41 further including updating said one or more databases.

44. The method of claim 39 wherein said retrieved information includes one or more of a song title information, an artist information, and an album information for music broadcasts over one or more radio stations.

45. A data marking device data searching system, comprising:

means for providing a data network;

means for connecting to said data network and transmitting a search request corresponding to a marked data; and

means for connecting to said data network and accessing one or more storage units in response to said search request received from said user terminal, and transmitting a result corresponding to said search request.
