1. A method of treating a cancerous bone tumor or pain associated with a cancerous bone tumor in the body of a patient, comprising:

  • inserting at least one probe into the cancerous bone tumor or tissue proximate to said cancerous bone tumor, the at least one probe being adapted to be connected to external apparatus external to the patient'"'"'s body which can deliver power through the at least one probe to tissue within or near the cancerous bone tumor; and

    applying power from the external apparatus to the tissue near or within the cancerous bone tumor through the at least one probe, causing heating of the tissue near or within the cancerous bone tumor to ablate at least a portion of the tissue near or within the bone tumor or to relieve pain associated with the cancerous bone tumor.
