Abstract

Identification of segments based upon scoreboards and logos.

Claims

1. A method of processing a video comprising:

(a) identifying a plurality of replay segments of said video, where each of said replay segments includes a plurality of frames of said video,

(b) wherein the beginning of said replay segments are identified based upon a starting logo transition within said video; and

(c) wherein the end of said replay segments are identified based upon an ending logo transition within said video.

2. The method of claim 1 wherein said ending logo transition and said starting logo transition are different.

3. The method of claim 1 wherein said logo transition includes a graphical image of a logo.

4. The method of claim 1 wherein the characteristics of said logo transition are determined in a manner free fi-om user input.

5. The method of claim 1 wherein said starting logo transition and said ending logo transition are used for an entire said video.

6. The method of claim 1 further comprising creating a summarization of said video by including said plurality of said replay segments, where said summarization includes fewer frames than said video.

7. The method of claim 1 wherein said starting logo transition includes image characteristics.

8. The method of claim 7 wherein said starting logo transition includes a logo size.

9. The method of claim 7 wherein said starting logo transition includes at least one of a logo shape and a logo position.

33. The method of claim 31 wherein said first logo characteristic includes a graphical image.

10. A method of processing a video comprising:

(a) identifying a slow motion replay segment of said video, where said slow motion replay segment includes a plurality of frames of said video; and

(b) identifying at least one of a starting logo transition within said video based upon said slow motion replay segment and an ending logo transition within said video based upon said slow motion replay segment.

11. The method of claim 10 further comprising identifying non-slow motion replay segments based upon said starting logo transition.

12. The method of claim 10 further comprising identifying non-slow motion replay segments based upon said ending logo transition.

13. The method of claim 10 wherein at least one of said starting logo transition and said ending logo transition are identified in the same general spatial region of a respective frame.

14. The method of claim 10 wherein said general spatial region is the central portion of said respective frame.

15. The method of claim 10 wherein said identifying of said at least one of said starting logo transition and said ending logo transition is free from user input.

16. A method of processing a video comprising:

(a) identifying a slow motion replay segment of said video, where said slow motion replay segment includes a plurality of frames of said video; and

(b) identifying at least one of a starting logo transition within said video based upon flames within 1000 frames of said replay segment and an ending logo transition within 1000 frames of said replay segment.

17. The method of claim 16 further comprising identifying non-slow motion replay segments based upon said starting logo transition.

18. The method of claim 16 further comprising identifying non-slow motion replay segments based upon said ending logo transition.

19. The method of claim 16 wherein at least one of said starting logo transition and said ending logo transition are identified in the same general spatial region of a respective flame.

20. The method of claim 16 wherein said general spatial region is the central portion of said respective frame.

21. The method of claim 16 wherein said identifying of said at least one of said starting logo transition and said ending logo transition is free from user input.

22. A method of processing a video comprising:

(a) identifying the beginning of a replay segments based upon a starting logo transition within said video; and

(b) identifying the end of said replay segments based upon an ending logo transition within said video.

23. The method of claim 22 wherein said ending logo transition and said starting logo transition are different.

24. The method of claim 22 wherein said logo transition includes a graphical image of a logo.

25. The method of claim 22 determined in a manner free from user input.

26. The method of claim 22 wherein said starting logo transition and said ending logo transition are used for an entire said video.

27. The method of claim 22 further comprising creating a summarization of said video by including said plurality of said replay segments, where said summarization includes fewer frames than said video.

28. The method of claim 22 wherein said starting logo transition includes image characteristics.

29. The method of claim 28 wherein said starting logo transition includes a logo size

30. The method of claim 28 wherein said starting logo transition includes at least one of a logo shape and a logo position.

31. A method of processing a video comprising:

(a) identifying a first logo characteristic indicating a subsequent replay segment free from user input; and

(b) identifying a second logo characteristic indicating a previous replay segment free from user input.

32. The method of claim 31 wherein said first and second logo characteristics are different.

34. The method of claim 31 further comprising creating a summarization of said video by including a plurality of said replay segments, where said summarization includes fewer frames than said video.

35. A method of processing a video comprising:

(a) identifying a plurality of replay segments of said video, where each of said replay segments includes a plurality of frames of said video; and

(b) wherein identifying the beginning of said replay segments are identified based upon a scoreboard within said video.

36. The method of claim 35 further comprising creating a summarization of said video by including said plurality of said replay segments, where said summarization includes fewer frames than said video.

37. The method of claim 35 wherein said scoreboard is identified free from user input.

38. A method of processing a video comprising:

(a) identifying a potential slow motion replay segment of said video, where said slow motion replay segment includes a plurality of frames of said video; and

(b) verifying said potential slow motion replay segment by detecting an associated scoreboard proximate said replay segment within said video.

39. The method of claim 38 wherein said verifying is free from user input.

40. The method of claim 38 wherein said scoreboard is detected based upon a plurality of frames.

41. The method of claim 38 wherein said scoreboard is identified free from user input.

42. A method of processing a video comprising:

(a) identifying a slow motion replay segment of said video, where said slow motion replay segment includes a plurality of frames of said video; and

(b) identifying a scoreboard within said video based upon processing a plurality of frames of said video, where said scoreboard is identified based upon blurring.

43. The method of claim 42 wherein said identifying said scoreboard is based upon an inference process.

44. The method of claim 43 wherein said inference process includes training.

45. The method of claim 42 wherein said scoreboard is identified free from user input.

46. A method of processing a video comprising:

(a) identifying a scoreboard within said video based upon the statistical processing of a set of frames of said video,

(b) selecting a plurality of segments of said video based upon identifying said scoreboard within different frames within said video.

47. The method of claim 46 further comprising identifying a slow-motion segment.

48. The method of claim 46 wherein said scoreboard is identified free from user input.

49. A method of processing a video comprising:

(a) identifying a potential slow motion replay segment of said video, where said slow motion replay segment includes a plurality of frames of said video; and

(b) processing said potential slow motion replay segment by using at least one of the following;

(i) said potential slow motion replay segment is a replay if it contains no scoreboard and does contain slow motion;

(ii) said potential slow motion replay segment is a play if it contains a scoreboard but does not contain slow motion;

(iii) said potential slow motion replay segment is at least one of a replay and a non-play if it contains no scoreboard and does not contain slow motion.
