Abstract

Specifically, the anastomosis device of the present invention provides an anastomosis ring; such as but not limited to a ring of staples, in the form of an oval or ellipse. One specific embodiment of the present invention is a side to end anastomotic stapler with a row of staples formed in an elliptical pattern. Another embodiment of the present invention is a pair of anastomotic compression rings formed in an ellipse. A further embodiment of the invention is compression disc, rather than open ring structure.

Claims

1. An anastomosis device for attaching hollow viscous wherein the device forms a non-circular closed loop of anastomised tissue.

2. The device of claim 1 wherein the non-circular closed loop is in the form of an ellipse or an oval.

3. The device of claim 2 wherein the device is a surgical stapler.

4. The device of claim 2 wherein the device is a pair of compression members.

5. The device of claim 4 wherein the device is a pair of open center compression rings.

6. The device of claim 5 wherein the device is a pair of frangible compression rings.

7. The device of claim 4 wherein the device is a pair of closed center compression discs.

8. The device of claim 7 wherein the device is a pair of frangible closed center compression discs.
