- accepting identification by the user of a category of location type about which a reminder is desired;
while the user is traveling in a geographic region to a location other than a location of the identified category of location type, determining when the navigation system is in proximity to a location of the category of location type identified by the user; and
informing the user when in proximity to a location of the identified category of location type.
