Abstract

A communication apparatus at a remote location is connectable to a communication apparatus at a central location. The apparatus includes a negotiation data transmitter that transmits negotiation data to the communication apparatus at the central location. The negotiation data includes an identification field that includes at least modulation independent information, a standard information field that includes at least modulation dependent information, and a non-standard information field that includes information other than information associated with the identification field and information associated with the standard information field.

Claims

1. A communication apparatus at a remote location that is connectable to a communication apparatus at a central location, comprising:

a negotiation data transmitter that transmits negotiation data to said communication apparatus at the central location, said negotiation data comprising;

an identification field that includes at least modulation independent information;

a standard information field that includes at least modulation dependent information; and

a non-standard information field that includes information other than information associated with said identification field and information associated with said standard information field.

2. The communication apparatus of claim 1, wherein information associated with said identification field and information associated with said standard information field include parameters related to said remote location communication apparatus and said central location communication apparatus, said parameters being classified as parameters having related sub-parameters and parameters without related sub-parameters.

3. The communication apparatus of claim 1, wherein said identification field includes a message type field that identifies a message type of said negotiation data.

4. The communication apparatus of claim 1, wherein said identification field includes a revised number field identifying a communication standard adhered to by said remote location communication apparatus.

5. The communication apparatus of claim 1, wherein said identification field includes a country code.

6. The communication apparatus of claim 1, wherein said standard information field includes a parameter that identifies at least one of a G.dmt standard and a G.lite standard.

7. The communication apparatus of claim 6, wherein said G.dmt standard includes at least one of G.992.1Annex A, G.992.1 Annex B, and G.992.1 Annex C.

8. The communication apparatus of claim 7, wherein said parameter identifying at least one of said G.dmt standard and said G.lite standard is processed as a parameter having a related sub-parameter.

9. A communication apparatus at a center side that is connectable to a communication apparatus at a remote side, comprising:

a negotiation data transmitter that transmits negotiation data to said communication apparatus at the remote side, said negotiation data comprising;

an identification field that includes at least modulation independent information;

a standard information field that includes at least modulation dependent information; and

a non-standard information field that includes information other than information associated with said identification field and information associated with said standard information field.

10. The communication apparatus of claim 9, wherein information associated with said identification field and information associated with said standard information field include parameters related to said remote location communication apparatus and said central location communication apparatus, said parameters being classified as parameters having related sub-parameters and parameters without related sub-parameters.

11. The communication apparatus of claim 9, wherein said identification field includes a message type field that identifies a message type of said negotiation data.

12. The communication apparatus of claim 9, wherein said identification field includes a revised number field identifying a communication standard adhered to by said central location communication apparatus.

13. The communication apparatus according to claim 9, wherein said identification field includes a country code.

14. The communication apparatus of claim 9, wherein said standard information field includes a parameter that identifies at least one of a G.dmt standard and a G.lite standard.

15. The communication apparatus according to claim 14, wherein said G.dmt standard includes at least one of G.992.1 Annex A, G.992.1 Annex B, and G.992.1 Appendix C.

16. The communication apparatus of claim 15, wherein said parameter identifying at least one of said G.dmt standard and said G.lite standard is processed as a parameter having a relating sub-parameter.

17. A method for communicating data, comprising:

exchanging negotiation data between a central location communication apparatus and a remote location communication apparatus, the negotiation data having;

an identification field that includes at least modulation independent information;

a standard information field that includes at least modulation dependent information; and

a non-standard information field that includes information other than information associated with the identification field and information associated with the standard information field.

18. The method of claim 17, wherein information associated with the identification field and information associated with the standard information field include parameters related to the central location communication apparatus and the remote location communication apparatus, the parameters being classified as parameters having related sub-parameters and parameters without related sub-parameters.

19. The method of to claim 17, wherein the identification field includes a message type field that identifies a message type of the negotiation data.

20. The method of claim 17, wherein the identification field includes a revised number field identifying a communication standard adhered to by the central location communication apparatus and the remote location communication apparatus.

21. The method of claim 17, wherein the identification field includes a country code.

22. The method of claim 17, wherein the standard information field includes a parameter that identifies at least one of a G.dmt standard and a G.lite standard.

23. The method of claim 22, wherein the G.dmt standard includes at least one of G.992.1 Annex A, G.992.1 Annex B, and G.992.1 Annex C.

24. The method of claim 23, wherein the parameter identifying at least one of the G.dmt standard and the G.lite standard is processed as a parameter having a relating sub-parameter.
