Abstract

A method, system and apparatus for performing peritoneal dialysis are provided. To this end, in part, a device for organizing a number of tubes extending from a unit of a medical fluid system is provided. The organizing device includes a body having a number of openings that each can removably receive an end of one of the number of tubes.

Claims

1. A device for organizing a plurality of tubes extending from a unit of a medical fluid system comprising:

a body including a plurality of openings that each can removably receive an end of one of the plurality of tubes.

2. The device of claim 1, wherein the openings are arranged to receive the plurality of tubes according to a sequence of steps in a medical therapy.

3. The device of claim 1, wherein the openings are so constructed and arranged so as to secure in order, a drain tube, at least one supply bag tube and a patient tube.

4. The device of claim 1, wherein the body is constructed from plastic.

5. The device of claim 1, wherein at least one of the openings is designed to receive a connector that connects to a supply bag tube.

6. The device of claim 1, wherein one of the openings is designed to receive a connector that connects to a drain line tube.

7. The device of claim 1, wherein one of the openings is designed to receive a connector that connects to a patient line tube.

8. The device of claim 1, wherein at least two of the openings are configured differently to secure at least two different tubing connectors.

9. The device of claim 1, wherein at least one of the openings provided by the body enables air to be purged from a line fluidly connected thereto.

10. The device of claim 1, wherein the body includes a portion that slideably engages a medical treatment enclosure.

11. The device of claim 1, wherein the body is tapered to provide an end designated to initially engage a medical treatment enclosure.

12. The device of claim 1, wherein the body includes a portion that vertically engages a medical treatment enclosure.

13. A medical tubing organizer for a drain tube, at least one supply bag tube and patient fluid tube extending from a disposable unit of a dialysis system comprising:

a body;

a first tip protector provided by the body, the first tip protector providing an opening that can removably secure a drain line connector attached to the drain tube;

at least one second tip protector provided by the body, the second tip protector providing an opening that can removably secure a supply bag connector attached to the supply bag tube; and

a third tip protector provided by the body, the third tip protector providing an opening that can removably secure a patient fluid connector attached to the patient fluid tube.

14. The organizer of claim 13, wherein the tip protectors are arranged in the body according to a sequence of steps in a peritoneal dialysis therapy.

15. The organizer of claim 13, wherein the body includes a portion that attaches to a peritoneal dialysis enclosure.

16. A method for aiding a patient in making a plurality of dialysis therapy tubing connections comprising the steps of:

packaging an end of each of the dialysis tubes in a single body; and

arranging the tubes according to a sequence of steps of the dialysis therapy so that the patient is urged to remove the tubes from the single body in a desired order.

17. The method of claim 16, which includes the step of configuring the body to secure and plug connectors attached to each of the ends of the tubes.

18. The method of claim 16, which includes the step of configuring the body to be held in place by an enclosure for the dialysis therapy.

19. The method of claim 18, which includes the step of configuring the enclosure and body so that the body can slide into the enclosure from only a desired direction.

20. The method of claim 18, which includes the step of configuring the enclosure to hold the body sturdily to aid the patient in removing the tubes from the body.

21. A method for aiding a patient in making a plurality of dialysis therapy tubing connections comprising the steps of:

packaging a plurality of dialysis tubes in a single body by providing openings in the body that secure connectors attached to ends of the tubes;

securing the body to an enclosure for the dialysis therapy and urging the patient to remove the tubes from the body; and

configuring the enclosure and the body so that the body is removable from the body after the tubes have been removed therefrom.

22. A dialysis system comprising:

a hardware unit;

a disposable unit fluidly coupled to a supply line, a drain line and a patient line, the disposable unit including a pump receptacle, the hardware unit and the receptacle forming a pump chamber; and

a body removably attachable to the hardware unit, the body including a plurality of openings that each removably receive an end of one of the supply line, the drain line and the patient line.
