Abstract

A method for establishing a long-term profile of blood sugar level aiding self-control of the same is provided. The present method includes periodically obtaining a specimen from a patient, and detecting a response of the specimen. Obtaining a blood sugar value of the patient based on the response, and storing the blood sugar values periodically measured. Establishing a long-term profile of blood sugar level from the measured blood sugar values in a form of chart. Furthermore, when the variation of the long-term profile of blood sugar level exceeds a standard, generating a warning signal informing the patient. When the variation of the long-term profile of blood sugar level does not exceed the standard, generating a safety signal informing the patient.

Claims

1. A method for establishing a long-term profile of blood sugar level aiding self-control of the same, comprising:

periodically obtaining a specimen from a patient;

detecting a response of said specimen;

obtaining a blood sugar value of said patient based on said response;

storing said blood sugar values periodically measured; and

displaying said blood sugar values in a chart so as to establish a long-term profile of blood sugar level for said patient.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein said blood sugar values are stored in a memory of a blood sugar determining instrument used for measuring said blood sugar values of said patient via said specimen.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein said specimen depends upon said blood sugar determining instrument, which is selected from a group consisting of a blood sample and a sweat sample from said patient.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein said response is in a form of current when said specimen includes said blood sample.

5. The method of claim 2, wherein said long-term profile of blood sugar level established by said blood sugar values is displayed on a panel of said blood sugar determining instrument.

The method of claim 1, further comprising a step of judging the variation of said long-term profile of blood sugar level, when the variation of said long-term profile of blood sugar level exceeds a standard, generating a warning signal informing said patient, and when the variation of said long-term profile of blood sugar level does not exceed the standard, generating a safety signal informing said patient.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein the step of judging variation of said long-term profile of blood sugar level depends upon the change of the slop of said curve.

9. The method of claim 7, wherein the step of judging variation of said long-term profile of blood sugar level depends upon the frequency of the strips shown in said strip chart each of which representing one of said blood sugar values exceeding a normal value.

10. The method of claim 7, wherein the step of judging variation of said long-term profile of blood sugar level depends upon the frequency of said blood sugar values listed in said table exceeding a normal value.

11. The method of claim 7, wherein said warning/safety signal is generated in a form of voice, pattern and text string.

16. The method of claim 11, wherein said blood sugar values are displayed in the form of chart by running graphic software.

The method of claim 11, further comprising a step of judging the variation of said long-term profile of blood sugar level, when the variation of said long-term profile of blood sugar level exceeds a standard, generating a warning signal informing said patient, and when the variation of said long-term profile of blood sugar level does not exceed the standard, generating a safety signal informing said patient.

18. The method of claim 17, wherein the step of judging variation of said long-term profile of blood sugar level depends upon the change of the slop of said curve.

19. The method of claim 17, wherein the step of judging variation of said long-term profile of blood sugar level depends upon the frequency of the strips shown in said strip chart each of which representing one of said blood sugar values exceeding a normal value.

20. The method of claim 17, wherein the step of judging variation of said long-term profile of blood sugar level depends upon the frequency of said blood sugar values listed in said table exceeding a normal value.

21. The method of claim 17, wherein said warning/safety signal is generated in a form of voice, pattern and text string.

12. A method for establishing a long-term profile of blood sugar level aiding self-control of the same, comprising:

periodically obtaining a specimen from a patient;

detecting a response of said specimen by a blood sugar determining instrument;

obtaining a blood sugar value of said patient based on said response;

storing said blood sugar values periodically measured in a memory of said blood sugar determining instrument;

downloading said blood sugar values from said blood sugar determining instrument in a computer system; and

displaying said blood sugar values in a chart on a window of said computer system so as to establish a long-term profile of blood sugar level for said patient.

13. The method of claim 12, wherein said specimen depends upon said blood sugar determining instrument, which is selected from a group consisting of a blood sample and a sweat sample from said patient.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein said response is in a form of current when said specimen includes said blood sample.

15. The method of claim 12, wherein said long-term profile of blood sugar level is in a form of curve, strip chart and table.

22. The method of claim 12, wherein said computer system is a personal computer, notebook and palm digital assistant.
