A method of operation of a packet network, the packet network including a plurality of packet switching nodes interconnected by packet transport links, the switching nodes including a plurality of access nodes, and at least some of the access nodes being wireless access nodes arranged to communicate packets with a mobile node via a wireless transmission system, characterised by sending packets directed to the mobile node to at least two wireless access nodes, and concurrently transmitting the same packets synchronously from each of the at least two wireless access nodes to the mobile node.
