Abstract

The present invention provides a printer in a network, the printer adapted to print a first form and a second form including coded data and receive data from a sensing device operated by a user on the forms. The sensed data includes an identity that is relayed via the printer to a computer system which determines if movement of the sensing device on the first form is in respect of the selection of one or more objects and if movement of the sensing device on a second form is in respect of selection of one or more commands. The printer receives response data from the computer system indicating an association of the one or more selected objects with the one or more selected commands and prints an amended version of the second form including a representation of the selected one or more objects.

Claims

1. A printer for a system for enabling association of objects in a computer system, the printer adapted to print at least one form on a first surface to provide a user with viewable information associated with one or more objects and to print at least one second form on a second surface to provide a user with viewable information associated with one or more commands;

the printer further being adapted to print, on at least one of the first and second forms, coded data indicative of at least one reference point of the form;

the printer further including a receiver for receiving indicating data from a sensing device operated by a user, said indicating data indicating movement of the sensing device relative to said form having said coded data;

a transmitter for transmitting said indicating data to a computer system wherein the printer is further adapted to receive response data from said computer system, said response data indicating an association of one or more objects on the first form with one or more commands on the second form, and to print an amended version of said at least one second form including a representation of said selected one or more objects.

2. The printer of claim 1 wherein the at least one form is printed with coded data indicative of an identity of the form and wherein the identity data is printed such that it can be sensed by said sensing device.

3. The printer of claim 2 wherein the indicating data includes a representation of the identity data.

4. The printer of claim 1 further adapted to print the coded data at the same time as printing the form.

5. The printer of claim 1 wherein the coded data is printed to be substantially invisible in the visible spectrum.

6. The printer of claim 1 further including a binding means to bind multiple items of said laminar substrate, to cater for a form printed on multiple pages.
