Abstract

A system for providing particular information relating to a caller placing a call from a mobile calling instrument to a special number service station in a telecommunication network includes: (a) an information store for storing a body of information including the particular information identified as relating to the caller; and (b) an interface unit communicatingly coupled at least with the information store and the special number service station. The interface unit responds to a query identifying the calling instrument from the special number service station by retrieving the particular information from the information store and communicating the particular information to the special number service station.

Claims

1. A system for providing particular information relating to a caller placing a call from a mobile calling instrument to a special number service station in a telecommunication network;

the system comprising;

(a) an information store for storing a body of information;

said body of information including said particular information identified as relating to said caller; and

(b) an interface unit communicatingly coupled at least with said information store and said special number service station;

said interface unit responding to a query identifying said calling instrument from said special number service station by retrieving said particular information from said information store and communicating said particular information to said special number service station.

2. A system for providing particular information relating to a caller placing a call from a mobile calling instrument to a special number service station in a telecommunication network as recited in claim 1 wherein said telecommunication network includes a mobile position determining unit;

said interface unit being communicatingly coupled with said mobile position determining unit and cooperating with said mobile position determining unit to include an indication of location of said calling instrument in said communicating.

A system for providing particular information relating to a caller placing a call from a mobile calling instrument to a special number service station in a telecommunication network as recited in claim 1 wherein said telecommunication network includes an emergency services special number call system and wherein said special number service station is a public safety answering point.

A system for providing particular information relating to a caller placing a call from a mobile calling instrument to a special number service station in a telecommunication network as recited in claim 3 wherein said coupling between said interface unit and said public safety answering point is effected via an automatic location information facility.

5. A system for providing particular information relating to a caller placing a call from a mobile calling instrument to a special number service station in a telecommunication network as recited in claim 3 wherein said telecommunication network further includes a mobile position determining unit;

said interface unit being communicatingly coupled with said mobile position determining unit and cooperating with said mobile position determining unit to include an indication of location of said mobile calling instrument in said communicating.

6. A system for providing particular information relating to a caller placing a call from a mobile calling instrument to a special number service station in a telecommunication network as recited in claim 4 wherein said telecommunication network further includes a mobile position determining unit;

said interface unit being communicatingly coupled with said mobile position determining unit and cooperating with said mobile position determining unit to include an indication of location of said mobile calling instrument in said communicating.

7. A system for providing particular information relating to a caller placing a call from a mobile calling instrument to a special number service station in a telecommunication network as recited in claim 4 wherein the system further comprises an update interface unit;

said update interface unit receiving updates relating to said body of information;

said update interface unit being configured for receiving said updates via at least one communication milieu of a plurality of communication milieux.

8. A system for providing particular information relating to a caller placing a call from a mobile calling instrument to a public safety answering point in an emergency service telecommunication network;

the system comprising;

(a) an information store for storing a body of information;

said body of information including said particular information identified as relating to said caller; and

(b) an interface unit communicatingly coupled at least with said information store and said public safety answering point;

said interface unit responding to a query identifying said calling instrument from said public safety answering point by fetching said particular information from said information store and communicating said particular information to said public safety answering point.

A system for providing particular information relating to a caller placing a call from a mobile calling instrument to a public safety answering point in an emergency service telecommunication network as recited in claim 8 wherein said emergency service telecommunication network includes a mobile position determining unit;

said interface unit being communicatingly coupled with said mobile position determining unit and cooperating with said mobile position determining unit to include an indication of location of said calling instrument in said communicating.

A system for providing particular information relating to a caller placing a call from a mobile calling instrument to a public safety answering point in an emergency service telecommunication network as recited in claim 8 wherein said coupling between said interface unit and said public safety answering point is effected via an automatic location information facility.

A system for providing particular information relating to a caller placing a call from a mobile calling instrument to a public safety answering point in an emergency service telecommunication network as recited in claim 10 wherein said emergency service telecommunication network further includes a mobile position determining unit;

said interface unit being communicatingly coupled with said mobile position determining unit and cooperating with said mobile position determining unit to include an indication of location of said calling instrument in said communicating.

12. A system for providing particular information relating to a caller placing a call from a mobile calling instrument to a public safety answering point in an emergency service telecommunication network as recited in claim 8 wherein the system further comprises an update interface unit;

said update interface unit receiving updates relating to said body of information;

said update interface unit being configured for receiving said updates via at least one communication milieu of a plurality of communication milieux.

13. A system for providing particular information relating to a caller placing a call from a mobile calling instrument to a public safety answering point in an emergency service telecommunication network as recited in claim 11 wherein the system further comprises an update interface unit;

said update interface unit receiving updates relating to said body of information;

said update interface unit being configured for receiving said updates via at least one communication milieu of a plurality of communication milieux.

14. A method for providing particular information relating to a caller placing a call from a mobile calling instrument to a special number service station in a telecommunication network;

the method comprising the steps of;

(a) providing an information store for storing a body of information;

said body of information including said particular information identified as relating to said caller;

(b) providing an interface unit communicatingly coupled at least with said information store and said special number service station;

(c) operating said interface unit to respond to a query identifying said calling instrument from said special number service station by retrieving said particular information from said information store; and

(d) communicating said particular information to said special number service station.

15. A method for providing particular information relating to a caller placing a call from a mobile calling instrument to a special number service station in a telecommunication network as recited in claim 14 wherein said telecommunication network includes a mobile position determining unit;

said interface unit being communicatingly coupled with said mobile position determining unit and cooperating with said mobile position determining unit to include an indication of location of said calling instrument in said communicating.

A method for providing particular information relating to a caller placing a call from a mobile calling instrument to a special number service station in a telecommunication network as recited in claim 14 wherein said telecommunication network includes an emergency services special number call system and wherein said special number service station is a public safety answering point.

A method for providing particular information relating to a caller placing a call from a mobile calling instrument to a special number service station in a telecommunication network as recited in claim 16 wherein said coupling between said interface unit and said public safety answering point is effected via an automatic location information facility.

A method for providing particular information relating to a caller placing a call from a mobile calling instrument to a special number service station in a telecommunication network as recited in claim 16 wherein said telecommunication network further includes a mobile position determining unit;

said interface unit being communicatingly coupled with said mobile position determining unit and cooperating with said mobile position determining unit to include an indication of location of said mobile calling instrument in said communicating.

A method for providing particular information relating to a caller placing a call from a mobile calling instrument to a special number service station in a telecommunication network as recited in claim 17 wherein said telecommunication network further includes a mobile position determining unit;

said interface unit being communicatingly coupled with said mobile position determining unit and cooperating with said mobile position determining unit to include an indication of location of said mobile calling instrument in said communicating.

20. A method for providing particular information relating to a caller placing a call from a mobile calling instrument to a special number service station in a telecommunication network as recited in claim 17 wherein the system further comprises an update interface unit;

said update interface unit receiving updates relating to said body of information;

said update interface unit being configured for receiving said updates via at least one communication milieu of a plurality of communication milieux.
