1. An SOS system for monitoring and reporting self-care compliance and health status data, for prompting, and/or reminding a patient of self-care events, and for generating alerts and messages if self-care events are not completed by the patient, to report abnormal health status data to healthcare providers and other concerned others, and to communicate emergency requests for help from the patient to health care providers or concerned other, the system comprising:

  • an SOS device, for receiving incoming self-care event reminder alerts, for generating event messages indicating the completion of the self-care event, for sending health status data and for sending alert messages; and

    wherein the system receives, processes and stores the data, alert and event messages from the SOS device.
