Abstract

A locator system is disclosed. An e911-enabled wireless network including a switching center is configured receive a request to generate location information regarding a remote mobile station, and send said location information to a subscriber only after obtaining consent from the remote mobile station.

Claims

1. A locator system comprising:

a GPS-enabled remote mobile station including a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card in communication with a E911-enabled wireless network;

the e911-enabled wireless network including a switching center for managing communications between said mobile station and wireless network;

the switching center being configured to;

receive a request to generate location information regarding said remote mobile station; and

send said location information to said subscriber only after obtaining consent from said remote mobile station.

2. The locator system of claim 1, wherein said SIM card is configured to bill said subscriber for said location services.

3. The locator system of claim 2, wherein said switching center is configured to determine the location of said mobile station utilizing e911 location information regarding said mobile station.

4. The locator system of claim 1, wherein said mobile station is further configured to send its location at predetermined intervals to said subscriber.

5. The locator system of claim 4, wherein said mobile station is further configured to notify said subscriber when nearing forbidden zones as pre-defined by the subscriber.

6. The locator system of claim 5, wherein said mobile station is further configured to generate and transmit said location information without intervention from the user of said mobile station.

7. A locator system comprising:

GPS-enabled remote mobile station means including a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card in communication with a E911-enabled wireless network;

the e911-enabled wireless network including switching center means for managing communications between said mobile station and wireless network;

the switching center means comprising;

means for receiving a request to generate location information regarding said remote mobile station; and

means for sending said location information to said subscriber only after obtaining consent from said remote mobile station.

8. The locator system of claim 7, wherein said SIM card comprises means for billing said subscriber for said location services.

9. The locator system of claim 7, further comprising means for determining the location of said mobile station utilizing e911 location information regarding said mobile station.

10. The locator system of claim 7, wherein said SIM card comprises means for providing its location at predetermined intervals to said subscriber.

11. The locator system of claim 10, further comprising means for notifying said subscriber when said remote mobile station is near a forbidden zone as pre-defined by the subscriber.

12. The locator system of claim 11, further comprising means for generating and transmitting said location information without intervention from the user of said mobile station.
