Abstract

A method of generating a user interface includes the step of printing a form with visible ink and invisible ink. The visible ink depicts information for a user and the invisible ink depicts coded data which is readable with an optical reader. A signal carrying said coded data is received at a computer system. The signal is decoded at the computer system.

Claims

1. A method of generating a user interface, the method including the steps of:

printing a form with visible ink and invisible ink, the visible ink depicting information for a user and the invisible ink depicting coded data which is readable with an optical reader;

receiving a signal generated by the optical reader and carrying said coded data at a computer system; and

decoding the signal at the computer system.

2. A method as claimed in claim 1, in which the step of printing the form includes the step of printing the invisible ink such that the coded data represents computer-executable instructions, the method including the further step of executing the instructions at the computer system.

A method as claimed in claim 2, in which the step of printing the form includes the step of printing the invisible ink such that the computer executable instructions include print instructions, the method including the step of printing a further form upon receipt of the print instructions from the computer sytem.

4. A method as claimed in claim 2, in which the step of printing the form includes the step of printing the invisible ink such that the coded data represents instructions for a web-browser.

5. A method as claimed in claim 1, in which the step of printing the form includes the step of printing the invisible ink such that, when the coded data is read with the reader, the signal generated by the optical reader represents a path scanned by the optical reader.

6. A method as claimed in claim 5, in which the step of decoding the signal includes the step of decoding the path to represent conventional print symbols.

7. A method as claimed in claim 1, in which the step of printing the form includes the step of printing visible fields on the form to facilitate user interaction with the form.
