Abstract

A system for the support and management of search for documents is presents. The system includes knowledge-database, query interface and communication to a database of documents to be searched. Information generated during a search session is collected by the system and is added to the knowledge-database. The information is ranked automatically according to the usage of that information by the user. During successive search session, or during search made by other users, the system uses the knowledge-database to support the users with keywords, queries and reference to documents.

Claims

1. An apparatus for search of information comprising a database containing at least one term, and;

Means for composing a query, and;

Means for relating terms, and;

Means for searching said database for at least one term that is related to said query, and;

Means for presenting said term to the user, and;

Means to replace the query undergoing a composition process with said term.

2. An apparatus of claim 1, and;

Including means to add said term to the query undergoing a composition process.

3. A method for composing queries comprising:

a database containing at least one term, and;

the step of composing a query and;

the step of relating said at least one stored item to the query undergoing a composition process, and;

the step of presenting to the user said at least one term, and;

the step of adding said at least one term to the query.

4. A method for composing queries comprising:

a database containing at least one term, and;

the step of composing a query and;

the step of relating said at least one stored term to the query undergoing a composition process, and;

the step of presenting to the user said at least one term, and;

the step of replacing the query being composed with said term.
