Abstract

A method and apparatus simultaneously displays the main text and/or more attached filed of a message received in a mobile terminal. This simultaneous display allows a user to confirm the main text and attached files in the message. The main text and attached files may be shown in respective areas of the display.

Claims

1. A method of displaying information in a mobile terminal, comprising:

displaying main text and at least one attached file of a message in a display unit of the mobile terminal; and

simultaneously executing and displaying the attached file on the display unit with the main text.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

converting the message into a file of predetermined format set to execute the attached file; and

displaying the message on the display unit simultaneously with the main text; and

driving the converted file in response to activation of a key confirming the message.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the file is in a format compatible with a synchronized multimedia integration language (SMIL).

4. The method of claim 2, wherein converting process includes

allotting display areas or the attached file and the main text to allow the attached file and main text to be simultaneously displayed based on display-specifying data stored in a memory of the terminal.

5. The method of claim 4, further comprising;

receiving the display-specifying data to be stored in the memory.

6. The method of claim 5, wherein the display-specifying data includes data indicating whether a sound file is to be executed and data indicating when the sound file to be executed.

7. The method of claim 4, wherein, if a number of attached files exceed the number of allotted display areas, the attached file is set to be displayed sequentially and rotationally.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein the attached file is set to be displayed sequentially and rotationally in response to press of a predetermined key.

9. The method of claim 7, wherein the attached file is set to be displayed sequentially and rotationally with a predetermined cycle.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein the predetermined cycle is set based on the display-specifying data.

11. An apparatus for displaying information on mobile terminal comprising:

a control unit which outputs a message, which contains main text and at least one attached file, on a display unit in response to activation of a key of the terminal; and

a message display setting module which specifies the attached file to be executed and displayed simultaneously with the main text.

The apparatus of claim 11, wherein the message display setting module converts the message into a file of a predetermined format set to execute and display the attached file simultaneously with the main text, the control unit displaying a message by driving the file in response to activation of a key indicating the confirmation of the message.

13. The apparatus of claim 12, wherein the file is in a format compatible with synchronized multimedia integration language (SMIL).

14. The apparatus of claim 12, wherein the message display setting module sets the file to allot display areas for the attached file and main text, where the attached file and main text are simultaneously displayed based on display-specifying data stored in a memory.

15. The apparatus of claim 14, wherein the display-specifying data is input by user to be stored in the memory.

16. The apparatus of claim 15, wherein if a number of attached files exceeds the displaying areas, the message display setting module sets the attached file to be displayed sequentially and rotationally.

17. The apparatus of claim 16, wherein the message display setting module sets the attached file to be displayed sequentially and rotationally in response to press of a predetermined key.

18. The apparatus of claim 16, wherein the message display setting module sets the attached file to be displayed sequentially and rotationally with a predetermined cycle.

19. The apparatus of claim 18, wherein the message display setting module sets the predetermined cycle using the display-specifying data.
