Abstract

The invention relates to a method and apparatus in connection with a wristop computer. According to the method, a desired variable is measured using a measuring unit (1), the measured variable is equipped with at least one digital codeword (15) and transmitted wirelessly over a transfer channel (3) to a receiver (3), and at the other end of the transfer channel (3), the transmitter'"'"'s (2) signal is identified on the basis of at least one codeword (15). According to the invention, the digital codeword (15) is transmitted to the receiver (3) together with the measured variable depicted as time-period data (t1 or t3).

Claims

1. A method in connection with a wristop computer, in which

a desired variable is measured using a measuring unit (1),

the measured variable is equipped with at least one digital codeword (15) and transmitted wirelessly over a transfer channel (3) to a receiver (3), and

at the other end of the transfer channel (3), the transmitter'"'"'s (2) signal is identified on the basis of the codeword (15),

characterized in that

the digital codeword (15) is transmitted to the receiver (3) together with the measured variable depicted as time-period data (t1 or t3).

2. A method according to claim 1, characterized in that such codewords (15) are used, in which there are as few bits containing power as possible.

3. A method according to claim 1, characterized in that only such a digital codeword (15), of which a maximum of 50% of the total number of bits of the codeword are power-containing bits, are permitted as digital codewords (15).

4. A method according to claim 1, characterized in that at most two bits (11, 12) containing power are used in the codeword (15).

5. A method according to claim 1, characterized in that an eight-bit codeword (15) is used.

6. A method according to claim 1, characterized in that several codewords (15) are used.

7. A method according to claim 1, characterized in that the codeword (15) is transmitted after the measurement period (t1).

8. An apparatus in connection with a wristop computer, which apparatus includes

a measuring unit (1) for measuring a desired variable,

a transmitter/coder 82) connected to the measuring unit, for equipping the measured variable with a digital codeword (15) and transmitting it to a transfer channel (3),

a receiver (4) for receiving a signal from the transfer channel (3),

a data-processing unit (5) for processing the received signal,

characterized in that

the transmitter (2) and receiver (4) apparatuses include means for processing the codeword (15) in a digital form and for processing the measurement variable (t1) as time-period data (t1 or t3).

9. An apparatus according to claim 8, characterized in that the apparatus includes means for minimizing the bits containing power in the digital codeword (15).

10. An apparatus according to claim 8 or 9, characterized in that the apparatus includes means for permitting only such a digital codeword (15), of which a maximum of 50% of the total number of code bits are bits containing power.

11. An apparatus according to claim 8, characterized in that at most two bits (11, 12) containing power in the codeword (15) are used in the apparatus.

12. An apparatus according to claim 8, characterized in that an eight-bit codeword (15) is used in the apparatus.

13. An apparatus according to claim 8, characterized in that several codewords (15) are used in the apparatus.
