Abstract

A system for managing physiological information includes a mobile terminal and at least one destination. The terminal is capable of transferring physiological information relating to a terminal user. The destination(s), in turn, are capable of receiving the physiological information and performing at least one operation based upon the physiological information. The destinations can return content to the terminal, where the content is selected based upon the operation(s) performed by the destination(s). Upon receiving the content, then, the terminal is also capable of performing at least one operation based upon the content. The system can also include a mobile station for facilitating the transfer of physiological information and content between the terminal and the destination(s).

Claims

1. A system for managing physiological information, the system comprising:

a mobile terminal capable of transferring physiological information relating to a user; and

at least one destination capable of receiving the physiological information and performing at least one operation based upon the physiological information, wherein the at least one destination is also capable of returning content to the terminal, the content being selected based upon the at least one operation performed by the at least one destination, and

wherein the terminal is also capable of performing at least one operation based upon the content returned to the terminal.

2. A system according to claim 1 further comprising:

a mobile station capable of receiving the physiological information from the terminal, and thereafter transmitting the physiological information to the at least one destination, and wherein the mobile station is capable of receiving the content from the at least one destination, and thereafter returning the content to the terminal.

3. A system according to claim 2, wherein one of the terminal and the mobile station is capable of initiating the transfer of physiological information based upon presence information related to the user.

4. A system according to claim 3, wherein one of the terminal and the mobile station is capable of monitoring presence information related to the user, and initiating the transfer when the presence information is indicative of the user performing the at least one activity.

5. A system according to claim 4, wherein one of the terminal and the mobile station is capable of initiating the transfer when performance of the at least one activity is detected.

6. A system according to claim 4, wherein one of the terminal and the mobile station is capable of initiating the transfer when a current time matches a predefined time set for the user to perform the at least one activity.

7. A system according to claim 4, wherein one of the terminal and the mobile station is capable of initiating the transfer when a location of the terminal matches a location where the user is capable of performing the at least one activity.

8. A system according to claim 1, wherein the at least one destination is capable of performing at least one operation comprising adjusting an exercise program, and wherein the at least one destination is capable of returning the adjusted exercise program to the terminal.

9. A system according to claim 8, wherein the terminal is capable of performing at least one operation comprising notifying the user of the adjusted exercise program.

10. A system according to claim 9, wherein the terminal is capable of transferring physiological information, the at least one destination is capable of adjusting the exercise program and returning the adjusted exercise program to the terminal, and the terminal is capable of notifying the user of the adjusted exercise program during performance of the at least one activity by the user.

11. A system according to claim 8, wherein the terminal is capable of performing at least one operation comprising modifying a calendar of the user, the calendar being capable of reflecting at least one workout schedule of the adjusted exercise program.

12. A system according to claim 1, wherein the at least one destination is capable of performing at least one operation comprising setting at least one alert based upon an exercise schedule, and wherein the destination is capable of returning the at least one alert to the terminal.

13. A system according to claim 12, wherein the terminal is capable of performing at least one operation comprising executing the at least one alert.

14. A system according to claim 12, wherein the at least one destination comprises at least one other mobile terminal, and wherein the at least one other mobile terminal is capable of returning physiological information relating to at least one other user of the at least one other terminal.

15. A system according to claim 1, wherein the mobile terminal is further capable of deriving the physiological information relating to the user.

16. A system according to claim 15, wherein one of the terminal and the mobile station is capable of initiating the transfer of physiological information based upon presence information related to the user, the presence information indicating that the mobile terminal is deriving physiological information relating to the user.

17. A mobile terminal comprising:

a controller capable of operating an activity detection application, the activity detection application being capable of transferring physiological information relating to a user to at least one destination and thereafter receiving content from the at least one destination following performance of at least one operation based upon the physiological information, wherein the content is selected based upon the at least one operation performed by the at least one destination, and wherein the activity detection application is also capable of performing at least one operation based upon the content returned to the terminal.

18. A mobile terminal according to claim 17, wherein the activity detection application is capable of initiating the transfer of physiological information based upon presence information related to the user.

19. A mobile terminal according to claim 18, wherein the activity detection application is capable of monitoring presence information related to the user, and initiating the transfer when the presence information is indicative of the user performing the at least one activity.

20. A mobile terminal according to claim 19, wherein the activity detection application is capable of initiating the transfer when performance of the at least one activity is detected.

21. A mobile terminal according to claim 19, wherein the activity detection application is capable of initiating the transfer when a current time matches a predefined time set for the user to perform the at least one activity.

22. A mobile terminal according to claim 19, wherein the activity detection application is capable of initiating the transfer when a location of the terminal matches a location where the user is capable of performing the at least one activity.

23. A mobile terminal according to claim 17, wherein the activity detection application is capable of transferring the physiological information to a mobile station such that the mobile station is capable of transferring the physiological information to at least one destination, and such that the destination is capable of returning content to the mobile station, with the mobile station returning the content to the terminal.

24. A mobile terminal according to claim 17, wherein the activity detection application is capable of transferring physiological information to at least one destination such that the at least one destination is capable of adjusting an exercise program and returning the adjusted exercise program to the terminal.

25. A mobile terminal according to claim 24, wherein the activity detection application is capable of performing at least one operation comprising notifying the user of the adjusted exercise program.

26. A mobile terminal according to claim 25, wherein the activity detection application is capable of transferring the physiological information, receiving the adjusted exercise program returned by the at least one destination, and notifying the user of the adjusted exercise program during performance of the at least one activity by the user.

27. A mobile terminal according to claim 24, wherein the activity detection application is capable of performing at least one operation comprising modifying a calendar of the user, the calendar being capable of reflecting at least one workout schedule of the adjusted exercise program.

28. A mobile terminal according to claim 17, wherein the activity detection application is capable of transferring physiological information to at least one destination such that the at least one destination is capable of setting at least one alert based upon an exercise schedule and returning the at least one alert to the terminal.

29. A mobile terminal according to claim 28, wherein the activity detection application is capable of performing at least one operation comprising executing the at least one alert.

30. A mobile terminal according to claim 28, wherein the activity detection application is capable of transferring physiological information to at least one destination comprising at least one other mobile terminal such that the at least one other terminal is capable of returning physiological information relating to at least one other user of the at least one other terminal.

31. A mobile terminal according to claim 17, wherein the activity detection application is further capable of deriving the physiological information relating to the user.

32. A mobile terminal according to claim 31, wherein the activity detection application is capable of initiating the transfer of physiological information based upon presence information related to the user, the presence information indicating that the activity detection application is deriving physiological information relating to the user.

33. A mobile station comprising:

a controller capable of operating a data manager, the data manager being capable of receiving, from a mobile terminal, physiological information relating to a user, wherein the data manager is also capable of transferring the physiological information to at least one destination and thereafter receiving content from the at least one destination following performance of at least one operation based upon the physiological information, and wherein the data manager is capable of returning the content to the terminal such that the terminal is capable of performing at least one operation based upon the content, the content being selected based upon the at least one operation performed by the at least one destination.

34. A mobile station according to claim 33, wherein the data manager is capable of initiating the transfer of physiological information based upon presence information related to the user.

35. A mobile station according to claim 34, wherein the data manager is capable of monitoring presence information related to the user, and initiating the transfer when the presence information is indicative of the user performing the at least one activity.

36. A mobile station according to claim 35, wherein the data manager is capable of initiating the transfer when performance of the at least one activity is detected.

37. A mobile station according to claim 35, wherein the data manager is capable of initiating the transfer when a current time matches a predefined time set for the user to perform the at least one activity.

38. A mobile station according to claim 35, wherein the data manager is capable of initiating the transfer when a location of the terminal matches a location where the user is capable of performing the at least one activity.

39. A mobile station according to claim 33, wherein the data manager is also capable of transferring the physiological information to at least one destination such that the at least one destination is capable of adjusting an exercise program, and wherein the data manager is capable of receiving the adjusted exercise program from the at least one destination and thereafter returning the adjusted exercise program to the terminal.

40. A mobile station according to claim 39, wherein the mobile station is capable of returning the adjusted exercise program to the terminal such that the terminal is capable of performing at least one operation comprising notifying the user of the adjusted exercise program.

41. A mobile station according to claim 40, wherein the data manager is capable of receiving physiological information, transferring the physiological information to at least one destination, receiving the adjusted exercise program from the at least one destination and thereafter returning the adjusted exercise program to the terminal such that the terminal is capable of notifying the user of the adjusted exercise program, during performance of the at least one activity by the user

42. A mobile station according to claim 39, wherein the mobile station is capable of returning the adjusted exercise program to the terminal such that the terminal is capable of performing at least one operation comprising modifying a calendar of the user, the calendar being capable of reflecting at least one workout schedule of the adjusted exercise program.

43. A mobile station according to claim 33, wherein the data manager is also capable of transferring the physiological information to at least one destination such that the at least one destination is capable of setting at least one alert based upon an exercise schedule, and wherein the data manager is capable of receiving the at least one alert from the at least one destination and thereafter returning the at least one alert to the terminal.

44. A mobile station according to claim 43, wherein the data manager is capable of returning the at least one alert to the terminal such that the terminal is capable of performing at least one operation comprising executing the at least one alert.

45. A mobile station according to claim 43, wherein the at least one destination comprises at least one other mobile terminal, and wherein the data manager is capable of receiving, and returning to the terminal, content comprising physiological information relating to at least one other user of the at least one other terminal.

46. A mobile station according to claim 33, wherein the data manager is capable of receiving physiological information derived by the mobile terminal.

47. A mobile station according to claim 46, wherein the data manager is capable of initiating the transfer of physiological information based upon presence information related to the user, the presence information indicating that the mobile terminal is deriving physiological information relating to the user.

48. A method of managing physiological information relating to a user, the method comprising:

receiving physiological information from a mobile terminal at at least one destination;

performing at least one operation at the at least one destination based upon the physiological information received by the at least one destination;

returning content to the terminal from the at least one destination, the content being selected based upon the at least one operation performed by the at least one destination, wherein returning content comprises returning content such that the terminal is capable of performing at least one operation based upon the content returned to the terminal.

49. A method according to claim 48 further comprising:

initiating a transfer of physiological information based upon presence information related to the user.

50. A method according to claim 49 further comprising:

monitoring presence information related to the user,

wherein initiating a transfer comprises initiating a transfer when the presence information is indicative of the user performing the at least one activity.

51. A method according to claim 50, wherein initiating a transfer comprises initiating a transfer when performance of the at least one activity is detected.

52. A method according to claim 50, wherein initiating a transfer comprises initiating a transfer when a current time matches a predefined time set for the user to perform the at least one activity.

53. A method according to claim 50, wherein initiating a transfer comprises initiating a transfer when a location of the terminal matches a location where the user is capable of performing the at least one activity.

54. A method according to claim 48, wherein receiving physiological information comprises receiving physiological information from a mobile terminal to a mobile station, and from the mobile station to at least one destination, and

wherein returning content to the terminal comprises returning content to the mobile station from the at least one destination, and from the mobile station to the terminal.

55. A method according to claim 48, wherein performing at least one operation at the at least one destination comprises adjusting an exercise program, and

wherein returning content to the terminal comprises returning the adjusted exercise program to the terminal.

56. A method according to claim 55, wherein returning content comprises returning content such that the terminal is capable of notifying the user of the adjusted exercise program.

57. A method according to claim 56, wherein receiving physiological information, adjusting the exercise program at the at least one destination, returning the adjusted exercise program to the terminal and notifying the user of the adjusted exercise program occur during performance of the at least one activity by the user.

58. A method according to claim 55, wherein returning content comprises returning content such that the terminal is capable of modifying a calendar of the user, the calendar being capable of reflecting at least one workout schedule of the adjusted exercise program.

59. A method according to claim 48, wherein performing at least one operation at the at least one destination comprises setting at least one alert based upon an exercise schedule, and

wherein returning content to the terminal comprises returning the at least one alert to the terminal.

60. A method according to claim 59, wherein returning content comprises returning content such that the terminal is capable of executing the at least one alert at the terminal.

61. A method according to claim 59, wherein receiving physiological information comprises receiving physiological information from a mobile terminal at at least one destination comprising at least one other mobile terminal, and

wherein returning content to the terminal comprises returning physiological information relating to at least one other user of the at least one other terminal.

62. A method according to claim 48, wherein receiving physiological information comprises receiving physiological information derived by the mobile terminal.

63. A method according to claim 62 further comprising:

initiating a transfer of physiological information based upon presence information related to the user, the presence information indicating that the mobile terminal is deriving physiological information relating to the user.

64. A computer program product for managing physiological information, wherein the computer program product comprises at least one computer-readable storage medium having computer-readable program code portions stored therein, the computer-readable program code portions comprising:

a first executable portion for receiving physiological information at at least one destination;

a second executable portion for performing at least one operation at the at least one destination based upon the physiological information received by the at least one destination; and

a third executable portion for returning content to the terminal from the at least one destination, the content being selected based upon the at least one operation performed by the at least one destination, wherein the third executable portion is adapted to return content such that the terminal is capable of performing at least one operation based upon the content returned to the terminal.

65. A computer program product according to claim 64 further comprising:

a fourth executable portion for initiating a transfer of physiological information based upon presence information related to the user.

66. A computer program product according to claim 65 further comprising:

a fifth executable portion for monitoring presence information related to the user,

wherein the fourth executable portion is adapted to initiate the transfer when the presence information is indicative of the user performing the at least one activity.

67. A computer program product according to claim 66, wherein the fourth executable portion is adapted to initiate the transfer when performance of the at least one activity is detected.

68. A computer program product according to claim 66, wherein the fourth executable portion is adapted to initiate the transfer when a current time matches a predefined time set for the user to perform the at least one activity.

69. A computer program product according to claim 66, wherein the fourth executable portion is adapted to initiate the transfer when a location of the terminal matches a location where the user is capable of performing the at least one activity.

70. A computer program product according to claim 64, wherein the first executable portion is adapted to receive physiological information from the mobile terminal at a mobile station, wherein the computer program product further comprises:

a fourth executable portion for receiving the physiological information from the mobile station at the at least one destination, wherein the third executable portion is adapted to transfer content to the mobile station from the at least one destination; and

a fifth executable portion for returning the content received by the mobile station to the terminal.

71. A computer program product according to claim 64, wherein the second executable portion is adapted to adjust an exercise program at the at least one destination, and wherein the third executable portion is adapted to return the adjusted exercise program to the terminal.

72. A computer program product according to claim 71, wherein the third executable portion is adapted to the third executable portion is adapted to return content such that the terminal is capable of notifying the user of the adjusted exercise program.

73. A computer program product according to claim 72, wherein the first executable portion is adapted to receive physiological information, the second executable portion is adapted to adjust the exercise program at the at least one destination, and the third executable portion is adapted to return the adjusted exercise program to the terminal such that the terminal is capable of notifying the user of the adjusted exercise program during performance of the at least one activity by the user.

74. A computer program product according to claim 71, wherein the third executable portion is adapted to the third executable portion is adapted to return content such that the terminal is capable of modifying a calendar of the user, the calendar being capable of reflecting at least one workout schedule of the adjusted exercise program.

75. A computer program product according to claim 64, wherein the second executable portion is adapted to set at least one alert based upon an exercise schedule, and

wherein the third executable portion is adapted to return the at least one alert to the terminal.

76. A computer program product according to claim 75, wherein the third executable portion is adapted to return content such that the terminal is capable of executing the at least one alert at the terminal.

77. A computer program product according to claim 75, wherein the first executable portion is adapted to receive physiological information from a mobile terminal at at least one destination comprising at least one other mobile terminal, and

wherein the third executable portion is adapted to return physiological information relating to at least one other user of the at least one other terminal.

78. A computer program product according to claim 64, wherein the first executable portion is adapted to receive physiological information derived by the mobile terminal.

79. A computer program product according to claim 78 further comprising:

a fourth executable portion for initiating a transfer of physiological information based upon presence information related to the user, the presence information indicating that the mobile terminal is deriving physiological information relating to the user.
