Abstract

A mobile physical training system and method, wherein a wheeled platform is secured to a user via a bodyworn harness and/or belt, wherein the user can easily and selectively manipulate the amount of resistant weight carried by the platform, and wherein consistent, hands-free delivery the resistant weight force is realized for both pushing and pulling actions, thereby enabling the physical training system of the present invention to target speed, strength, and endurance training for individuals of virtually any skill level during a variety of training activities, such as walking, jogging, forward, backward and lateral running, push training, mobility training, and wheelchair training.

Claims

1. A mobile physical training system, comprising:

a ground-traversing platform, said wheeled platform capable of supporting and carrying weighted material;

a bodyworn support; and

an elongated support member, a first end of said elongated support member carried by said wheeled platform and a second end of said elongated support member carried by said bodyworn support.

2. The mobile physical training system of claim 1, wherein said bodyworn support is a harness.

3. The mobile physical training system of claim 1, wherein said bodyworn support is a belt.

4. The mobile physical training system of claim 1, wherein said weighted material is configured to enable adjustment of the weight thereof.

5. The mobile physical training system of claim 1, wherein said weighted material is a plurality of removable weighted plates.

6. The mobile physical training system of claim 1, wherein said ground-traversing platform carries wheels.

7. The mobile physical training system of claim 6, wherein said wheels are in-line wheels.

8. The mobile physical training system of claim 1, wherein said ground-traversing platform carries sleds.

9. The mobile physical training system of claim 1, wherein said bodyworn support carries body function monitoring equipment.

10. The mobile physical training system of claim 1, wherein said elongated support member comprises a plurality of related members.

11. The mobile physical training system of claim 10, wherein said plurality of related members includes an angled member.

13. The mobile physical training system of claim 6, wherein said ground-traversing platform carries a weight receiving member.

14. The mobile physical training system of claim 1, wherein said ground-traversing member further comprises a cover.

15. The mobile physical training system of claim 1, wherein said ground-traversing platform comprises a supportive floor and a generally tubular frame, said frame carrying grip-enhancing material.

16. The mobile physical training system of claim 6, wherein said wheels comprise two axially related wheels and at least one caster.

17. The mobile physical training system of claim 15, wherein said frame further comprises a plurality of swivelably carried support brackets, wherein said plurality of support brackets.

18. The mobile physical training system of claim 17, further comprising a forked support member configured to receive said elongated support member.

19. The mobile physical training system of claim 6, further comprising a variable resistance mechanism.

20. The mobile physical training system of claim 19, wherein said variable resistance mechanism is a magnetic mechanism.

21. The mobile physical training system of claim 2, wherein said harness comprises a first shoulder strap, a second shoulder strap, a waist belt, and a lower back support member.

22. The mobile physical training system of claim 21, wherein said harness further comprises a plurality of support brackets dimensioned to receive and secure said first end of said elongated support member.

23. The mobile physical training system of claim 1, wherein said ground-traversing platform further comprises an insulated compartment.

12. A physical training system for pulling behind a wheeled exercise vehicle, comprising:

a wheeled weight support, capable of supporting and carrying weighted material; and

a pulling arm, a first end of said pulling arm carried by said wheeled weight support and a second end of said pulling arm carried by the wheeled exercise vehicle.

24. A method of physical training, comprising the steps of:

a) obtaining a wheeled platform with removable weighted plates, a harness, and an elongated support rod;

b) selecting a weighted plate for installation on said wheeled platform;

c) putting on said harness;

d) securing a first end of said elongated support rod to a receiving member on said wheeled platform;

e) securing a second end of said elongated support rod to a first receiving member said harness, in a position generally rearwardly relative to the wearer; and

f) moving in a forwardly direction, pulling said wheeled platform with said removable weight thereon.

25. The method of physical training of claim 24, further comprising the steps of:

g) removing said second end of said elongated support rod from said harness;

h) selecting an alternate weighted plate for installation on said platform;

i) securing said second end of said elongated support rod in a second receiving member said harness, in a position generally frontally relative to the wearer; and

j) moving in a forwardly direction, pushing said wheeled platform with said removable weight thereon.
