Abstract
Compositions are disclosed for carbon supported catalysts with high metal loadings, high electrochemically active surface area, and good water management properties. In one aspect, the invention is directed to a carbon supported catalyst comprising a carbonaceous substrate and a dispersed metal, wherein the carbonaceous substrate has an electron microscopy surface area to nitrogen surface area ratio of at least 0.5 and a nitrogen surface area of at least 100 m2/g.
