Abstract

A method of monitoring health parameters of subjects within a defined space and over a period of time includes collecting first data corresponding to a physiological parameter of an ambulatory subject, collecting second data corresponding to a behavioral and cognitive parameter of the ambulatory subject, collecting third data corresponding to an identity and a location of the one of the subjects, collecting fourth data corresponding to the one of the ambulatory subjects from third party sources, generating a data record for the one of the ambulatory subjects based upon the first, second, third, and fourth data, and outputting a modified data record, the modified data record containing portions of the data record, the portions selected based upon an access level of a person requesting the data record and a format of the modified data record selected based upon the access level and community needs.

Claims

1. A system for monitoring the health parameters of subjects, the system comprising:

a physiological monitoring subsystem configured to measure physiological parameters of the subjects and configured to transmit first data corresponding to the measured physiological parameters;

a behavioral and cognitive monitoring subsystem configured to measure behavioral and cognitive parameters of the subjects and configured to transmit second data corresponding to the measured behavioral and cognitive parameters;

a tracking subsystem configured to monitor tracking signals transmitted from tracking transmitters, each of the tracking transmitters associated with a corresponding one of the subjects, the tracking subsystem further configured to transmit third data corresponding to an identity and a location of the corresponding one of the subjects;

a computer that includes a processor and a data storage device, the computer configured to receive the first data, the second data, the third data, and fourth data corresponding to the corresponding one of the subjects from third party sources, the processor configured to analyze the first, second, third, and fourth data and configured to generate a data record based upon the analysis, the data storage device configured to store the data record; and

a remote node configured to communicate with the computer, the remote node configured to output a modified data record to a user of the system and to accept control inputs from the user.

2. The system of claim 1, the processor configured to detect a negative trend in a quality of service to one of the subjects, the processor further configured to issue a system alert when the negative trend exceeds a predetermined threshold value.

3. The system of claim 1, the remote node configured to communicate with the computer through a network, the computer configured to receive the fourth data through the network.

4. The system of claim 3, the computer comprising:

a search engine configured to gather the fourth data; and

a data filter configured to generate the modified data record from the data record based upon an access level of the user, a role and responsibility of the user, the needs of the subject corresponding to the modified data record, and the needs of an organization responsible for administering the system.

5. The system of claim 4, the data filter configured to generate the modified data record in a format that is tailored to the access level of the user.

6. The system of claim 5, the access level of the user comprising a personal access corresponding to a user that is one of the subjects.

7. The system of claim 5, the access level of the user comprising a family access corresponding to a user that is considered to be family by one of the subjects.

8. The system of claim 5, the access level of the user comprising a physician access corresponding to a user that is a doctor for one of the subjects.

9. The system of claim 5, the access level of the user comprising a caregiver access corresponding to a user that provides daily care for one of the subjects.

10. The system of claim 5, the access level of the user comprising a management access corresponding to a user that oversees operation of the system.

11. The system of claim 5, the access level of the user comprising a researcher access corresponding to a user that is investigating trends in the status of one of the subjects.

12. A method of monitoring health parameters of subjects within a defined space and over a period of time, the method comprising:

collecting first data corresponding to a physiological parameter of one of the subjects during the period of time;

collecting second data corresponding to a behavioral and cognitive parameter of the one of the subjects during the period of time;

collecting third data corresponding to an identity and a location of the one of the subjects during the period of time;

collecting fourth data corresponding to the one of the subjects from third party sources;

generating a data record for the one of the subjects based upon the first, second, third, and fourth data; and

outputting a modified data record, the modified data record containing portions of the data record, the portions selected based upon an access level of a person requesting the data record, a format of the modified data record selected based upon the access level.

13. The method of claim 12, wherein collecting first data comprises measuring the physiological parameter of the one of the subjects using a first detector positioned within the defined space, the first detector capable of measuring the physiological parameter and generating a first signal corresponding to a value of the measured physiological parameter.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein measuring the physiological parameter comprises passively measuring the physiological parameter.

15. The method of claim 13, wherein collecting second data comprises measuring the behavioral and cognitive parameter using a second detector positioned within the defined space, the second detector capable of measuring the behavioral and cognitive parameter and generating a second signal corresponding to a value of the measured behavioral and cognitive parameter.

The method of claim 15, further comprising associating the first and second signals with the identity of the one of the subjects by correlating a location of the first detector and a location of the second detector with the location of the one of the subjects, the location determined by a spatial monitoring device configured to transmit a signal unique to the one of the ambulatory subjects.

17. The method of claim 12, further comprising analyzing the data record to identify a trend in the physiological parameter or the behavioral and cognitive parameter of the one of the subjects.

18. The method of claim 17, wherein analyzing the data record comprises producing a histogram that characterizes the trend.
