Abstract

In a particular embodiment of the present invention, a system for establishing a wager associated with a game comprises one or more web servers that provide access to an online game for a plurality of users. The system further comprises one or more processors that receive information about a wager offer, wherein the wager offer is associated with the online game. The one or more processors also receive information about a wager acceptance. The wager offer and the wager acceptance combine to form a wager, wherein the wager is associated with at least one wager parameter. The system further comprises a memory communicatively coupled to the one or more processors and that stores information associated with the at least one wager parameter.

Claims

1. A system for establishing a wager associated with a game, comprising:

one or more web servers that provide access to an online game for a plurality of users;

one or more processors associated with the game and that;

receive information about a wager offer, wherein the wager offer is associated with the game;

receive information about a wager acceptance, the wager offer and the wager acceptance combining to form a wager, wherein the wager is associated with at least one wager parameter; and

a memory communicatively coupled to the one or more processors and that stores information associated with the at least one wager parameter.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein at least one of the wager offer and the wager acceptance is associated with a user.

3. The system of claim 1, wherein the wager offer is associated with a first user and the wager acceptance is associated with a second user, the wager offer and the wager acceptance combining to form a wager between the first user and the second user.

4. The system of claim 1, wherein at least one of the wager offer and the wager acceptance is received during the execution of the game.

5. The system of claim 1, wherein at least one of the one or more processors is associated with a handheld device, a wireless telephone, or a personal digital assistant.

6. The system of claim 1, wherein at least one of the one or more processors is associated with a personal computer, a workstation, or a gaming console.

7. The system of claim 1, wherein at least one of the one or more processors is associated with a server.

8. The system of claim 1, wherein at least one of the one or more processors communicates information associated with the at least one wager parameter for display.

9. The system of claim 1, wherein at least one of the one or more processors presents a wager window during the execution of the game to facilitate the wager offer.

10. The system of claim 1, wherein at least one of the one or more processors presents a wager window during the execution of the game to facilitate the wager acceptance.

11. The system of claim 1, wherein at least one of the one or more processors presents a wager window in response to a game event that occurs during the execution of the game.

12. The system of claim 1, wherein at least one of the one or more processors presents a wager window in response to a request communicated during the execution of the game.

13. The system of claim 1, wherein the wager is associated with a player of the game.

14. The system of claim 1, wherein the wager is associated with a spectator of the game.

15. The system of claim 1, wherein the wager is associated with a spectator within the game.

16. The system of claim 1, wherein the wager parameters comprise a wager event and a wager value.

17. The system of claim 16, wherein the wager event comprises an action performed during the execution of the game that changes the state of the game and upon which the outcome of the wager is determined.

18. The system of claim 1, wherein the game comprises a racing game.

19. The system of claim 1, wherein the game comprises a car racing game.

20. The system of claim 19, wherein the wager is associated with a car in a car race.

21. The system of claim 19, wherein the wager is associated with finishing a race.

22. The system of claim 19, wherein the wager is associated with a racing time.

23. The system of claim 1, wherein the game comprises a sports game.

24. The system of claim 1, wherein the game comprises a golf game.

25. The system of claim 24, wherein the wager is associated with a golfing challenge.

50. The system of claim 49, wherein at least one of the wager offer and the wager acceptance is associated with a user.

51. The system of claim 49, wherein the wager offer is associated with a first user and the wager acceptance is associated with a second user, the wager offer and the wager acceptance combining to form a wager between the first user and the second user.

52. The system of claim 49, wherein at least one of the wager offer and the wager acceptance is received during the execution of the game.

53. The system of claim 49, wherein the system is associated with a handheld device, a wireless telephone, or a personal digital assistant.

54. The system of claim 49, wherein the system is associated with a personal computer, a workstation, or a gaming console.

55. The system of claim 49, wherein the system is associated with a server.

56. The system of claim 49, wherein the system is associated with a processor that communicates information associated with the at least one wager parameter for display.
