Abstract

An automobile entertainment system includes a video system having a video monitor and a video source, and a cradle secured within an automobile. The cradle is shaped and dimensioned for selectively receiving and securely holding the video system.

Claims

1. A display device for a vehicle having a seat, comprising:

an assembly housing, wherein at least a portion of the assembly housing is adapted to be mounted in the seat;

at least one media source operatively coupled to the display device for providing at least one of video and audio signals from the at least one media source to the display device; and

at least one wireless transmitter adapted to wirelessly transmit the audio signals to at least one wireless receiver or speaker.

2. The display device according to claim 1, wherein the portion of the assembly housing is mounted in a headrest of the seat.

3. The display device according to claim 1, wherein the assembly housing includes a face portion and a rear portion.

4. The display device according to claim 3, wherein the rear portion is mounted in the seat and the face portion is substantially flush with a surface of the seat.

5. A display device for a vehicle having a seat, comprising:

an assembly housing, wherein the assembly housing is adapted to be mounted in the seat;

at least one media source operatively coupled to the display device for providing at least one of video and audio signals from the at least one media source to the display device; and

at least one wireless transmitter adapted to wirelessly transmit the audio signals to at least one wireless receiver or speaker.

6. The display device according to claim 5, wherein the assembly housing is mounted in a headrest of the seat.

7. A display device for a vehicle having a seat, comprising:

an housing, wherein at least a portion of the housing is adapted to be mounted in the seat;

at least one video source operatively coupled to the display device for providing at least one of video and audio signals from the at least one video source to the display device; and

at least one wireless transmitter adapted to wirelessly transmit the audio signals to at least one wireless receiver or speaker.

8. The display device according to claim 7, wherein the portion of the housing is mounted in a headrest of the seat.

9. The display device according to claim 7, wherein the housing includes a face portion and a rear portion.

10. The display device according to claim 9, wherein the rear portion is mounted in the seat and the face portion is substantially flush with a surface of the seat.

11. The display device according to claim 7, wherein the audio signals are wirelessly transmitted as infrared (IR) signals.

12. The display device according to claim 7, wherein the at least one media source includes at least one of a DVD player, satellite radio, television, GPS guidance system, wireless internet access, digital video recorder, digital video reception, video conferencing, cellular digital, cellular digital with a camera and a device capable of playing at least one of computerized video files and computerized audio files.

13. The display device according to claim 7, wherein the display device employs one of a TFT LCD, plasma, Ultra High Definition VGA, touch screen VGA and fabric based monitors.

14. A display device for a vehicle having a seat, comprising:

an housing, wherein the housing is adapted to be mounted in the seat;

at least one video source operatively coupled to the display device for providing at least one of video and audio signals from the at least one video source to the display device; and

at least one wireless transritter adapted to wirelessly transmit the audio signals to at least one wireless receiver or speaker.

15. The display device according to claim 14, wherein the housing is mounted in a headrest of the seat.
